G.House

The G. House keeps it simple, focusing on attentive service and clean, basic facilities that attract tourists traveling on a budget, as well as golfers drawn by the hotel's golf packages and proximity to several courses. It isn’t too much of a hangout spot, and the lobby is fairly small and minimalist. The space is bright, with white tile floors and lots of windows letting in natural light. A couple of beige couches are set around coffee tables that feature colorful designs made of shells, starfish, and pressed flowers set under glass. The lobby also has a computer for guest use, as well as travel brochures on display. There is some seating out front on an outdoor patio by the entrance, where umbrella-shaded wooden tables and chairs sit buffered from the traffic by a hedge. The on-site restaurant is equally simple and neat, with spare furnishings that include a couple of white tablecloth-clad tables and black-and-white chairs.

The G. House sits on a busy thoroughfare that leads out of Hua Hin, just west of the downtown area, which is about a 20-minute walk away. While this road is congested and noisy throughout the day, there are lots of local restaurants and shops around, and few tourists. Most of the rooms here are set back from the street, so noise isn’t too much of an issue. The Hua Hin Night Market is a 15-minute walk from here, while the railway station is about a 15-minute drive or 20-minute walk. The beach is also a 20-minute walk, but in Hua Hin's heat that won't be pleasant for many, and it's only five minutes away by taxi. Other attractions include Hua Hin Market Village, Vana Nava Hua Hin Water Jungle, and Cicada Market, which can be reached in about 20 to 30 minutes by car. There is no operating local airport, and the closest are all of the way back in Bangkok, which is about three hours away.

There are 64 rooms to choose from at the G. House, most of which are the entry-level Superior Rooms and have either twin or double beds. While the rooms are not fancy and are geared toward budget travelers, they are clean and functional, with simple, modern decor. White walls and cream tile floors make the spaces feel clean and bright, and contrast the black furnishings that include work desks, wardrobes, nightstands, and beds topped with white linens. Amenities include minibars, safes, televisions with cable channels, telephones, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi, plus Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites also have electric water kettles. Bathrooms are small and could use a refresh; showers are separated from the toilet and sink only by a curtain. Junior Suites offer much more space and have separate living rooms with sofas and armchairs, as well as wet bars with sinks and tea/coffee facilities. Junior Suite bathrooms have showers with glass doors instead of curtains, giving them a bit more of a polished finish.

Amenities are fairly limited at this simple hotel, but there is an on-site restaurant, which is open for breakfast (included in rates) and lunch, and serves a limited selection of Thai dishes. An outdoor patio by the front entrance provides some outdoor seating space. Reviews of the food are mixed. The hotel has two meeting rooms, and Wi-Fi is free throughout, plus there is a computer available for guest use in the lobby. Free shuttle service to and from the center of town is offered several times a day, as well as free transport to and from the local bus or train station. The hotel offers special golf packages that include green fees and transportation to the courses.
