Villas La Lupita Hotel

Hotel Villas La Lupita is a budgetl hotel located a short walk from Acapulco’s bustling commercial strip with several restaurants and a gorgeous beach. The 34 air-conditioned rooms have dated Mexican Hacienda decor, flat-screen TVs, and fully-tiled stand-up showers. The hotel has a small saltwater swimming pool, a candy and soda vending machine, and sells lottery tickets. Hotel freebies include parking, a bottle of water, coffee and tea in the mornings, and Wi-Fi (although the signal is spotty in the upper-floor rooms). For a slightly nicer stay with a beachfront location, multiple restaurants, and two ocean-view pools, it’s worth pricing out the nearby Krystal Beach Acapulco hotel.

Ocean Tide Beach Resort

Ocean Tide Beach Resort is a solid lower-middle-range option in San Pedro. This no-frills hotel has 11 clean rooms with homey decor and nice amenities like flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and air-conditioning. The property’s oceanfront pool is a popular hangout for guests, and the adjacent bar serves great cocktails throughout the afternoon and evening. Like all beaches in San Pedro town, the one in front of Ocean Tide is used as a thoroughfare for golf cart traffic, but the hotel has its own dock, so guests can access the ocean to swim. Nearly all of San Pedro’s shops, bars, restaurants, and dive operations are within walking distance of this property, but some guests complain that the area can be noisy at night. Travelers looking for a quieter location might prefer the out-of-town Mata Rocks Resort, which is usually pricier but has nicer rooms and amenities.

Padma Ubud Retreat

Padma Ubud Retreat is a two-and-a-half-pearl bed-and-breakfast in the northern part of the center of Ubud, right by the city’s famous Saraswati Temple and a short walk from tons of shops and restaurants. The 12 guest rooms are simple and bright and all have terraces or balconies plus sleek bathrooms. We noticed some musty odors in rooms. There’s little in the way of amenities at this property, though breakfast is included in the room rates and includes lots of fresh tropical fruit along with made-to-order eggs. There’s also a lovely outdoor swimming pool flanked with lush foliage. Travelers shopping around may want to also consider a stay at Ubud Bungalow, located right in the center of town.
