The Wolcott Hotel
The historic Wolcott Hotel comes in impressive packaging for a two-and-a-half-pearl property, with a chandelier-studded lobby oozing with vintage New York grandeur and a Midtown Manhattan location walkable to Times Square, the Empire State Building, and several subway lines. However, the old-fashioned charm doesn’t quite carry over to the 160 rooms and amenities. Rooms are large enough by New York City standards, and some have Empire State Building views, but furnishings are dated and there are no tea/coffee-making facilities. The small on-site gym and business center are also in need of updating. There isn’t a bar or a restaurant (just free coffee and muffins for breakfast) and guests are charged per-day fees for Wi-Fi. Travelers may prefer the almost equally affordable Broadway at Times Square Hotel, which has free Wi-Fi and free breakfast.
