Eloisa Hotel

A block from Playa Los Muertos and the Malecon in the center of Puerto Vallarta’s old town, Eloisa Hotel is a pleasant budget property offering 77 clean and simple rooms. Flat-screen TVs, ceiling fans, and free bottled water come standard in entry-level rooms, while upgraded rooms have air-conditioning. Studios add kitchenettes, and suites have balconies and living rooms. There’s a courtyard pool and second small pool on the hotel’s sprawling roof terrace, which offers panoramic views of the city. Surprisingly, the charming A Page in the Sun cafe functions as a library and second-hand bookstore while serving pastries and coffee. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The budget-friendly Hotel Villa Del Mar offers more local charm, but lacks a pool and is farther from the beach.

Grand Baie Suites

The two-and-a-half-pearl Grand Bay Suites is a distinct departure from the swanky, upscale beachfront resorts that typify tourist-friendly Grand Baie and Pereybere. The low-key hotel isn’t trying to be much more than a clean place for budget travelers to bed down after exploring the area by day. It’s a few minutes from the beach and a supermarket. The 25 apartment-style rooms feature separate sleeping and living quarters, plus full kitchens, flat-screen satellite TVs, and private balconies. The charmless neighborhood and lack of Wi-Fi anywhere but around the pool may be enough to dissuade some visitors. Pereybere Hotel & Spa offers more amenities in a modern, sophisticated package for slightly higher rates.

Casa Florida Hotel

For budget travelers seeking super affordable nightly rates and a full suite of resort facilities near services in downtown Pereybere, it doesn’t get much cheaper than the budget Casa Florida Hotel. All 74 rooms are functional and reasonably well-appointed with flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and private balconies. Upgraded categories add kitchens/kitchenettes and separate living and dining quarters.  The amenities list checks all the must-have boxes for a tropical vacation: an outdoor pool, a modern bar, a spa, and a breezy restaurant with free breakfast. However, the charmless decor and zero hints of sophistication give everything an entirely functional feel. As an alternative, Mont Choisy Coral Azur Beach Resort adds a beach and hints of modernity for slightly higher rates.
