Pajar House

Pajar House Ubud is a value hotel located in the foothills of Ubud, around a 20-minute drive from downtown. The 32 rooms are spread out along three separate compounds. The Standard and Deluxe Rooms are located in a Balinese family compound and the Villas and Suites are set within pristine natural surroundings overlooking gorgeous rice fields. Each compound has a swimming pool. The rooms all feature balconies, Balinese stylings, hardwood furniture, and modern amenities, but interiors are somewhat aged. Facilities are limited as there is no spa or restaurant, though in-room spa treatments and room service are available. Free extras include breakfast, Wi-Fi, and afternoon tea. Guests looking for a more upmarket hotel with similar natural surroundings, should check out the Puri Sebali Resort.

Super 8 by Wyndham Bend

The Super 8 Bend is a two-and-a-half-pearl hotel in a central location, within a five-minute drive of the Old Mill District and downtown. The free breakfast buffet features waffles and gets decent reviews from guests, there’s an indoor pool and hot tub, and free passes to a nearby public gym are on offer. The 79 guest rooms have a pleasing contemporary look, but many need renovation and better maintenance. All come with flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi, and some feature microwaves and mini-fridges. Suites with sofa beds are available. Travelers who want a location within a short walk of the downtown center might consider the Bend Three Sisters Inn & Suites, but it’s typically a bit more expensive and its pool is only open seasonally.

Days Inn by Wyndham Bend

The two-pearl Days Inn Bend is an affordable option for families and is conveniently located within a short drive to downtown Bend and Mount Bachelor. A typical chain motel for the most part, the property does feel dated in several areas, and the 75 spacious rooms and suites could use remodeling. However, microwaves and mini-fridges in rooms, plus features like an outdoor pool with a hot tub, a small gym, and a free breakfast offering hot food alongside continental items indicate extra effort as far as amenities go. Limited parking and spotty Wi-Fi can pose occasional issues. The Sleep Inn has a more contemporary feel but it’s further from the downtown area.
