Hotel Mandarina

Situated on the low-key downtown strip in the center of Manuel Antonio, the three-pearl Hotel Mandarina is central to essential services and the town’s most popular restaurants and bars. The hotel offers a number of common amenities, including an outdoor pool and an open-air space where free hot breakfast is served daily. All 12 rooms are designed with a distinctly tico (Costa Rican) decor, plus come with mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and air-conditioning. However, the walls between some rooms are paper thin and the lack of reliable in-room Wi-Fi can prove frustrating. The nearby Hotel Colina offers lusher grounds, a larger pool, and a happening restaurant/bar for lower night rates.

Quality Inn & Suites, Garden of the Gods

The two-pearl Quality Inn & Suites, Garden of the Gods is a solid choice for budget-conscious travelers who want to stay within a 10-minute drive to the Garden of the Gods and downtown. Highlights include a free hot breakfast, seasonal outdoor pool, laundry room, free parking, and a small fitness center. The 124 guest rooms are dated, but spacious, with coffeemakers and free Wi-Fi. Upgraded units and Suites also have microwaves and mini-fridges. Travelers who are willing to spend a bit more for a step up can consider Best Western Plus Peak Vista Inn & Suites which has similar amenities but a nicer aesthetic overall.

Parador El Faro

Parador El Faro is a lower-middle-range option with 69 rooms set on lush manicured grounds in a somewhat removed Aguadilla location that’s a short drive from a beach, close to some restaurants, and handy to the airport — which is why many stay here. Guests appreciate the cleanliness and the tranquil scenic setting, but dated decor, uncomfortable beds, maintenance issues, and a lack of phones or coffeemakers in rooms cause discontent. The two pools and the open-air Puerto Rican restaurant are welcome features, although food reviews are mixed. All in all, Parador El Faro is adequate for a quick stay, but not built for lingering on the premises. Travelers seeking something more modern could try Punta Borinquen Resort.

Hotel Vela Bar

A simple, but bold design sets the two-and-a-half-pearl Hotel Vela Bar apart from most budget hotels in the area. All 20 rooms are crisp, bright, and sleek with modern amenities like air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and luxury Britt espresso makers. Lush, tropical greenery envelopes every inch of the intimate grounds creating a relaxed, quiet feel that’s conducive to its adult-only policy. However, with a small pool and breakfast-only dining space (no full restaurant/bar), guests will need to venture off-site for dining and entertainment options. Thankfully, it’s located right next to the entrance of Manuel Antonio National Park and near Playa Espadilla. Falls Resort at Manuel Antonio offers the same amenities and a similarly great location, but it’s a bit pricier and it lacks contemporary flair

Ibis Budget Paris La Villette

Ibis Budget Paris La Villette is a colorful value property with basic rooms and few amenities. The hotel’s lobby is a modern space with communal seating areas and attractive decor, but rooms are underwhelming with pale blue walls, simple white beds, and basic furniture. Plus, tiny bathrooms are mostly open to the bedroom space and lack privacy. There’s free Wi-Fi and cheap breakfast available each morning, but otherwise there aren’t any on-site amenities. The hotel is within walking distance of two metro lines and the trendy Canal St. Martin neighborhood, though travelers should expect at least a 30-minute commute to central Paris tourist attractions. Plus, the surrounding neighborhood can be a bit seedy, especially at night. Budget travelers in search of a more tourist-friendly area should check out the Ibis Paris Montmartre 18eme, though its rates are pricier and it’s still far from attractions.
