Acrotel Elea Beach

The 80-room, value Acrotel Elea Village offers lovely, relaxing outdoor spaces on Greece’s central peninsula in Halkidiki. Simple rooms are air-conditioned and have tube TVs and a mini-fridge, but little else. The pool and bar are on a beautiful terrace, as is seating for the all-inclusive restaurant. An a la carte restaurant is open in the afternoon. Tennis and basketball courts are available as well. The area is a bit isolated, and it’s a 15-minute drive to the nearest village for food, entertainment, and transportation. Guests without a car might prefer Xenia Ouranopolis’ beautiful spaces, pool, and spa short walk from the beach and restaurants.

Venue Hotel The Lily

Venue Hotel The Lily is a two-pearl property in Joo Chiat, a colorful east-side neighborhood that’s known for its popular eateries and rich history. The boutique hotel has a fresh and modern look, and its contemporary rooms are kept compact and simple, with amenities like air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs. Rates are reasonable here, though there are a few trade-offs, like the hotel’s location, which isn’t near the city center or any MRT train stations, and the lack of on-site features, like a restaurant. Additionally, some rooms lack windows and none have dressers or closets. Guests who don’t mind paying a little more and want to be based in central Singapore, with access to hotel features like a cafe and a pool, can check out Santa Grand Hotel Bugis instead.

Zalmedina Hotel

Zalmedina Hotel is a budget-friendly boutique in Cartagena’s lively Bocagrande neighborhood. Its 50 stylish rooms are equipped with amenities like flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges, but bathrooms are tiny, and some rooms are subject to lots of street noise at night. Zalmedina’s location — one block from the beach and within walking distance of tons of shops, bars, and restaurants — attracts all types of travelers, from families with children, to backpackers, to couples. There are two on-site conference rooms, and the hotel draws many business travelers. With perks like free breakfast and Wi-Fi, many guests can overlook the hotel’s minor wear and tear. But those looking for a property in tip-top shape might prefer the nearby Hampton by Hilton Cartagena, which is slightly pricier but has more amenities, like a pool and a fitness center.
