Articles Mentioning Budget

The Reef

This budget property occupies a lovely beachfront location that’s about a 10-minute drive to the SkyWheel and Broadway at the Beach. The hotel is worn and dated, but it has nice outdoor and indoor pools, including a kids’ pool and hot tubs. Other features include a game room stocked with arcade games and a casual eatery with happy hour specials and seasonal entertainment. All guest rooms have oceanfront balconies, and most have living rooms and kitchens. The units receive many complaints, however, as they’re tired, dated, and often unclean; guests cite bug problems, stains, and odors. As an alternative, Breakers Resort offers water parks and condo-style units with kitchens.

Hotel Iris

The budget Hotel Iris offers comfortable and affordable accommodations in a convenient location. It’s centrally located just off the Mission Valley Freeway in Mission Valley’s “Hotel Circle,” a short drive from Old Town, SeaWorld, and San Diego Zoo. The airport and downtown also are within 15 minutes by car. This is an older, no-frills motel with exterior corridors and no elevator, but it’s been well maintained and updated. Freebies include coffee, parking, and Wi-Fi. It also has a pool, whirlpool, and laundry room, but no breakfast, fitness center, or business center. Rooms are clean and comfortably sized, with a contemporary decor that borders on funky. Mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers are standard. Rates are attractive and comparable with the nearby Days Hotel-Hotel Circle by SeaWorld that has clean rooms and a restaurant.

Econo Lodge

This two-pearl Econo Lodge, situated at the intersection of two highways outside of Hendersonville, mainly attracts motorists seeking somewhere to spend the night on a budget. It’s a worn and dated property that doesn’t offer much in terms of features, though there is a small seasonal outdoor pool as well as a free breakfast. Other freebies include Wi-Fi and parking. Guest rooms are tired and lackluster, but they’re equipped with flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and en-suite bathrooms, plus some have whirlpool tubs. Many guests complain of cleanliness issues, however, so it might be worth checking out some alternatives. The Best Western Hendersonville Inn is a bit more expensive, but is clean, well maintained, and has a restaurant.
