Sri Bungalows
Sri Bungalows is a tranquil budget hotel that has a classic Bali look and feel, and is ideally located along Monkey Forest Street, Ubud’s most happening downtown locale. The hotel opened in 1995 and both the rooms and facilities are somewhat aged. The property features stunning rice field and river views, lush tropical gardens, two swimming pools, a riverside spa and yoga shala, and a restaurant serving Indonesian and Western favorites. The 48 bright rooms offer rice field or garden views, hardwood furniture, and modern amenities. Room types range from small suites to large two-story family bungalows. As an alternative hotel that’s a five-minute walk from downtown, Pertiwi Bisma 2 features a more serene setting and standalone wooden bungalows with elegant interiors.
Arc The. Hotel
University Inn is a decent option for budget-conscious travelers who aren’t concerned by a little wear and tear. This two-and-a-half pearl property has a small fitness room, and an Italian restaurant and bar. The 95 guest rooms are spacious and feature amenities including microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers (as well as full kitchenettes in select rooms). Wi-Fi and bottled water are free. The hotel’s location is perfect for visitors to George Washington University and those needing to be near the Foggy Bottom/West End neighborhood. And while the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro station is just two blocks away, the hotel is removed from many of the city’s popular attractions. Guests who prefer a more modern hotel in the same area might consider the nearby River Inn instead, though it’s a bit more expensive.
Hotel Corona Plaza Rosarito
Hotel Corona Plaza Rosarito is a one-and-a-half-pearl property located within a two-minute walk of the beach with its fair share of flaws. The 187 dated rooms and suites have flat-screen TVs, but lack air-conditioning and other features. There have also been complaints of maintenance issues plus visible wear and grime in the rooms. Features include an outdoor pool and hot tub, a restaurant, bar, free hot breakfast, and free Wi-Fi in the lobby. You can’t beat the rates for this location and this is a pick only for those who plan on spending most of the day at the beach. Travelers with a little more money to spare and some travel flexibility might consider heading down the coast to Ensenada, where the Americas Best Value Inn has more cheerful rooms.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pigeon Forge
With plenty of decent amenities and budget-friendly prices, the two-and-a-half-pearl Holiday Inn Express Pigeon Forge/Dollywood attracts a good number of couples and families. The 105 rooms are comfortable, but dated, and come with decent amenities like Keurig coffeemakers, microwaves, and mini-fridges. There’s no restaurant or gym on-site, but the hotel does have an indoor pool and hot tub and there’s a free breakfast buffet with hot items. All things considered, it’s a good value hotel for the Pigeon Forge area, but may be too far from Dollywood at a 12-minute drive. Best Western Toni Inn is a good alternative with similar amenities, plus an outdoor pool and hot tub, closer to the park.
