Days Inn by Wyndham Port Aransas TX

Days Inn Port Aransas is what you’d expect from any other Days Inn: a few perks (pool and free breakfast), but slightly on the shabby side — think loud color schemes and upkeep needed in some rooms. However, it’s a 10-minute walk to the beach, which is a plus for many guests, and it’s also a good starting place to explore the larger Corpus Christi area. The outdoor pool is pleasant and has an adjacent hot tub and kiddy pool, plus there are a barbecue area and free parking. All rooms have coffeemakers, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Travelers who would rather pay more for a beachfront property should consider Beachgate CondoSuites and Hotel.

Mambukal Hot Spring Resort

Mambukal Hot Spring Resort is a government-operated budget hotel that belongs to the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and is set about a 45-minute drive from Bacolod City. Situated on lush, sprawling grounds at the foot of Mount Kanlaon, the lovely jungle setting includes hot springs, streams, and seven waterfalls. The main attraction here are the hot springs, which have been drawing visitors ever since the resort’s Ishiwata Bath House opened in 1927. There are also two swimming pools and a handful of activities like a zipline and climbing wall. Other features include a simple food court and even a butterfly sanctuary. Mambukal Resort villas and cottages are basic and don’t offer much in terms of amenities; they’re rustic, tired, and due for some renovations – as is the entire property. Nevertheless, the location draws plenty of budget travelers. For something a bit more modern and better maintained, check out L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod.
