Bottom Line

This mid-range collection of 48 studio apartments is housed in a high-rise in a residential neighborhood in Hong Kong's Mid-Levels area, which is well served by public transportation. The studios are a bit small, but make practical use of space and are sunny and bright thanks to lots of windows. Each has a kitchenette as well as a living area, plus amenities like flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. There's not much in terms of features or common spaces here beyond a sidewalk-level patio area, laundry facilities, and a free coffee corner in the lobby. For something with more features, check out Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay Hong Kong, which has a rooftop pool, restaurant and bar, and a fitness center -- but decor is a bit dated.

Scene

Mid-range contemporary apartment complex

Situated in a looming 24-story high-rise, this apart-hotel doesn't offer much in terms of atmosphere or common spaces where guests can gather. The lobby is a simple room by the hotel's entrance and holds little more than a potted plant, elevator, and reception desk. There's a free coffee corner nearby, which is a thoughtful touch in a property that's otherwise devoid of features. There's also a pleasant outdoor patio with a couple of umbrella-shaded tables and small wispy palm trees sprouting from planters set along the sidewalk. The property attracts both leisure and business travelers, and is a good choice for longer stays as all of the studio apartments have kitchenettes and living areas.

Location

In an affluent residential area well serviced by public transportation

The hotel is situated in Hong Kong's Mid-Levels, an affluent residential area on Hong Kong Island. There are a couple of dining options in the area, and the property is well served by public transportation, with minibuses stopping right outside of the hotel and the Sai Ying Pun MTR Station about a 10-minute walk away. Hong Kong Station is about a five- to 10-minute drive away, depending on traffic, or 22 minutes via public transit. The Macau Ferry Terminal, from where guests can take a ferry across Victoria Harbor, is a 10- to 15-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from the hotel. Victoria Peak is about a 20- to 30-minute drive from here, or a bit over an hour via public transportation. Other top attractions include the Temple Street Market (15-minute drive or 35 minutes via public transportation), the Ladies Market (20-minute drive or 35 minutes via public transportation), and Disneyland (25-minute drive, or an hour and 20 minutes via public transit). The Hong Kong Convention And Exhibition Centre is around a 10-minute drive or 35 minutes via public transit. Hong Kong International Airport is a half-hour drive from the hotel or a bit over an hour away by public transportation.

Rooms

Small and sunny contemporary studio apartments with living areas and kitchenettes

The hotel offers studio apartments that feature simple, contemporary decor, which can feel a bit spare, but overall the spaces are sunny, clean, and pleasant. Light wooden floors and white walls are complemented by light wood furniture, while beige/mauve velour sofas are accented by red pillows. The apartments are a bit small in size, but they make good use of space, utilizing wooden sliding panels to partition the spaces and separate the bedrooms from the living areas, which offer seating and flat-screen TVs. Lots of large windows are also a plus and fill the spaces with natural light. There are wardrobes and storage space, as well as bookshelves and small tables. Other amenities include air-conditioning, irons and ironing boards, hairdryers, and electronic safes. All units also have kitchenettes with two-burner electric stoves, microwaves, fridges, toasters, electric kettles, sinks, dishware, and cookingware. Bathrooms are small and equipped with walk-in showers, plus a set of toiletries is provided. Note that rooms are cleaned and towels are changed three times a week, while bed linens are changed once per week.

Features

Features limited to a sidewalk patio, guest laundry facilities, and coffee corner

The hotel doesn't offer much in terms of features, but it does offer a handful of extras. These include guest laundry facilities with coin-operated machines, an outdoor patio area with umbrella-shaded tables and chairs situated by the sidewalk in front of the property, and a coffee corner near the lobby with free hot beverages. Free daily newspapers are available during the week. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Airport transfers can be arranged for an additional fee.
