The 503-room InterContinental is one of the most luxurious hotels in Hong Kong, conveniently situated along the harbor in Kowloon. Its claim to fame may be that two-thirds of the rooms have harbor views, but the hotel has plenty else to brag about, including five high-end dining options, a chic lobby bar, a rooftop pool, a top-notch spa, a large fitness center, extensive business services, and exceptional 24-hour room and butler service. Luxurious, sophisticated rooms have high-tech amenities like LCD TVs, Bose sound systems, generously stocked minibars, and smartphones, plus huge marble bathrooms with separate showers and tubs. It's hard to miss here, but for a more intimate and boutiquey five-pearl experience, guests might consider Hullet House -- though it tends to be pricier.
Scene
Luxurious, sophisticated hotel with magnificent harbor views
Situated in a 17-story building with a mostly glass facade, the InterContinental Hong Kong takes advantage of its exceptional location along the harbor with epic panoramic views, which are found everywhere from the guest rooms to the hotel's restaurants, lobby bar, and rooftop pool. The hotel's neutral color palette feels sophisticated with dashes of gold, Asian accents, and high-end, meticulously maintained furnishings. Distinct decorative details, like NOBO's sea-urchin ceiling or SPOON's over 500 hand-blown Murano glass spoons, are displays of grandeur that take this hotel beyond four-pearl chain standards into the lap of five-pearl luxury. Guests here are a monied group of couples, business travelers, and families.

Rooms
Luxurious rooms with marble bathrooms, high-tech amenities, and (usually) panoramic harbor views
Sophisticated and serene neutrals adorn the InterContinental's spacious guest rooms. A beige and brown backdrop is offset by gold accents, and regal dark wood furniture and velvety upholstery are meticulously maintained. Decorative details include recessed ceilings, Asian accents like tasseled golden bed throws, and button-tufted headboards. But in any of the guest rooms with harbor views (that is, two-thirds of them and all suites), the main attraction is the expansive panoramic window. Huge marble bathrooms feature separate walk-in showers and soaking bathtubs and even walk-in closets. Some suites have whirlpools. Roomy desks have comfortable executive chairs, 37-inch LCD TVs, Bose entertainment systems, iPod docks, coffee and tea service, and generously stocked minibars. Other standard amenities include safes, robes, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, and individual toiletries. Butler and room service are available 24/7 as well. Unfortunately Wi-Fi is not free for guests who aren't rewards members, but guests do receive smartphones for the length of their stay, which includes free Wi-Fi that can be used to create an in-room hotspot. Guests can also use the phones to make free local calls and free international calls to some countries, including the US.
Features
Luxury amenities including high-end dining, a rooftop pool, and a top-shelf spa
This massive hotel has all of the amenities (and more) that guests expect from a luxury property. There are five on-site dining spots, including the world-renowned NOBU, serving Japanese cuisine, and an Alain Ducasse restaurant serving French fare, plus a chic lobby bar with fantastic skyline and harbor views. Food and drinks are tasty but pricey, and breakfast may cost an extra fee depending on the package booked. All guests, regardless of room category, have access to the Club Lounge for an extra fee as well. Room service is available 24 hours. The hotel also has a top-notch spa, large fitness center, free Tai Chi and yoga classes, and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the harbor. (One caveat: During our 2016 visit, nearby construction could be a nuisance in the pool and spa areas.) The hotel has a host of meeting and event rooms, including a ballroom, plus a staffed business center offering business services like faxing and copying. Staff and concierges are exceptional and can make almost any request a reality for guests. There's free on-site parking.
