Given this location, the hotel has an energetic atmosphere, with lots of international business travelers meeting and networking in its common spaces. Guests enter to a contemporary lobby with high ceilings and huge windows, a winding glass-railed staircase, and rich colors of scarlet red and royal blue. The restaurants and bars are also have a cool and contemporary aesthetic -- expect to see plenty of glass, swank materials like marble floors, and bright pops of color to offset all of the sober black and gray. The indoor pool is an atmospheric space, with overhead lights reflected in the pool, and plants and sleek wooden benches on the deck. An exclusive Executive Lounge has a balcony with great views of planes landing and taking off from the airport. The majority of guests here are business travelers, though everyone from families to couples pass through as well, usually on their way to and from the airport.

Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel is located on the edge of Lantau Island, next to SkyPier bus station and the ferry to Macau. The hotel is directly connected via covered foot bridge to Asia-World Expo exhibition venue, convention center, and concert arena. The exhibition center also has an MTR train station, but it's at least a 90-minute trip to reach the city's more happening areas like Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui. There are few shops and restaurants in the area, and hotel offers free shuttle service to Tung Chung MTR station (a 10-minute drive), which is next to Citygate Mall and its shopping and dining. Free shuttles are also available to Hong Kong International Airport (a five-minute drive) and Hong Kong Disneyland (a 15-minute drive). Shuttles stop running in the evening, though, and taxis are sometimes difficult to come by. A 40-minute cable car from Tung Chung will take guests to the Ngong Ping area, which features the Ngong Ping 360 retail and entertainment center, Tian Tan Buddha statue, Po Lin Monastery, and sits at the foot of Landau Peak, with its panoramic views of the city and South China Sea.
