Bottom Line

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is a four-and-a-half-pearl hotel situated on the Disneyland grounds and directly connected to the park via a free shuttle. The 400 rooms reflect an elegant Victorian theme (don't expect mouse ears) found throughout the hotel, and have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Some have ocean views. There are three restaurants, an indoor and outdoor pool with a waterslide, gym, and free Wi-Fi and parking. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique princess makeover room and storybook playroom are popular with kids. Hotel guests get Priority Admission passes to park attractions, but some amenities have pricey fees. For those wanting cheaper rates near Disneyland, Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is a good alternative that offers a Hollywood and Disney-inspired theme, and other perks like an arcade and Disney movie screenings.

Scene

Disneyland hotel with an elegant Victorian look and a clientele of mostly families

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel looks like a Victorian palace and provides a beautiful setting and ocean views on lovely landscaped grounds. Inside, there's elegant interior decor with a Victorian theme. The lobby is a beautiful atrium with live music, royal blue carpets, a glass chandelier, windows for natural light, and a charming elevator with white iron decorative bars on the outside. Glossy floors or sophisticated carpet, garden murals, white and cream color tones, crown molding, and gold accents are standard decorative elements throughout the hotel, providing an upscale atmosphere that isn’t found at all Disney resort hotels. However, that’s not to say that the Disney theme isn’t present. There’s a beautiful garden maze in the shape of Mickey Mouse and Disney-inspired children’s play areas. As Disney is a family-friendly attraction, most guests are often families who want to be close to Disneyland.

Location

Oceanfront location and connected to Disneyland by a free shuttle; little else to do or see nearby

Hong Kong Disneyland resort has an oceanfront location on the south side of Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s conveniently connected to the park and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel by a free shuttle. That said, there’s nothing to walk to within the area -- no other attractions, restaurants, or points of interest. Hong Kong Island is a 32-minute drive away. Ngong Ping 360 and Tian Tan Buddha are 45-minute drives away. The closest train stop is an 11-minute walk from the property. It takes 17 minutes to reach the Hong Kong International Airport by car.

Rooms

Elegant rooms with flat-screen TVs, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and mini-fridges; some have sea views and balconies

The rooms may be a little dated and not the most stylish compared to other Disney hotels, but they provide an elegant stay. Floral curtains and printed carpet, antique wooden beds and furniture, and warm tones provide an unmistakable Victorian feel. In-room amenities include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, coffee- and tea-making facilities, safes, mini-fridges, and bottled water. Some rooms have balconies and sea views. Bathrooms are similarly sophisticated with marble countertops and shower/tub combos. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Suites have separate showers and tubs. Some cleanliness complaints have been made. Other room perks include room decoration packages that allow for Disney-themed decor added to rooms. Additionally, all hotel guests get Priority Admission passes to park attractions depending on the type of room they book. Some rooms also get seat reservations to Disney theme park shows. Suites and Club Rooms have extra perks like minibars, DVD players, free breakfast and snacks in the exclusive lounge, and vacation planning.

Features

Outdoor and indoor pools, hot tubs, sauna, gym, three restaurants, bar, and Disney-themed activities

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel aims to keep guests entertained with a variety of features while they're away from the park. There’s an outdoor swimming pool with a waterslide and hot tub, as well as an indoor heated lap pool. Though the hotel doesn’t have a spa with treatments, it does offer a sauna, steam room, and indoor hot tub. Guests can stay fit with a fitness center with cardio and weight machines and free weights, or get a workout with activities like tennis, basketball, soccer, or Tai Chi with Goofy near the maze in the mornings. As for dining options, there are three restaurants and a bar offering American and Asian cuisine, with fun Disney-themed food like Disney character-shaped Dim Sum or waffles. A hot and cold breakfast is available for a fee. The 24-hour room service also incurs a charge. Sometimes characters appear at the restaurants for meet and greets. Kid-friendly perks are plentiful here, such as an outdoor playground, storybook playroom for kids, or the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique which allows children to undergo princess makeovers in a fun salon. There’s also evening story time readings and daily character appearances. The on-site gift shop sells Disney items. Babysitting services are available for a fee. Business features include eight indoor and outdoor meeting spaces, including the Cinderella ballroom. A business center and free Wi-Fi are available, too. Other perks include laundry and courier services, luggage drop-off services, and free parking -- including a free electric car charging area.
