Bottom Line

The four-pearl Hershey Lodge is the more casual sister property of the iconic Hotel Hershey. Despite the lodge's enormous size, its lobby exudes a rustic, homey ambience with a large stone fireplace, exposed ceiling beams, and cozy sitting areas. It offers upscale amenities like free area shuttle, room service,
full-service spa, and both indoor and outdoor pools (open summer 2016). The huge conference center creates
lots of activity as do children having fun in the pools and the other recreation areas. The 665 rooms
are clean and pleasant but not overly spacious. Furnishings in some rooms
are showing wear, too, and some past guests have reported noise and maintenance issues. For a more luxurious experience, The Hotel
Hershey, about 10 minutes away, is the clear choice.

Scene

Large, rustic-style lodge bustling with convention delegates and children

Exposed ceiling beams, a large stone fireplace, and stone walls give this large hotel and its cavernous lobby an intimate,
rustic-lodge ambience. Despite its size, the lobby is a cozy space with wood columns and clusters of comfy leather furniture. The hearth that wraps
around the four-sided fireplace is a favorite spot for families. It’s not
unusual to see children in their pajamas enjoying the warmth on a chilly night.
In fact, this family-friendly lodge hosts lots of children who can get a little
boisterous as they frolic about. The lodge’s huge
conference center also creates a buzz of traffic when it hosts groups.
Its sports bar is especially popular and indicative of the popular lodge’s casual environment compared to its more opulent sister, The Hershey Hotel. In short, this
is a lodge that’s about getting people together to relax.

Location

Near bustling downtown Hershey and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center

The Hershey Lodge stretches for almost a block along a road just off
busy West Chocolate Avenue. Downtown Hershey is about five minutes away by car or via
the free area shuttle the lodge operates. Several restaurants and shops are
within a five- to 10-minute walk, or even less by car or
shuttle. The Pennsylvania
Turnpike is about a 10-minute drive, and the airport and train station are a short drive away as well. The major attractions in Hershey aren’t
within a reasonable walking distance, but can be reached quickly by car or shuttle. Self-parking is free at the hotel, but valet is not. - Five-minute drive to Downtown Hershey

Rooms

Tastefully decorated rooms with mini-fridges and coffeemakers

Rooms at the Hershey Lodge are clean, comfortable, and decorated in a tasteful, somewhat
traditional style. Carpets and drapes are green and gold, and walls are covered in beige striated wallpaper. Two-poster beds are made up with green bolster pillows and green
throws placed across white linens. Matching, dark-wood furniture includes nightstands, spacious desks, and brown leather
office chairs. Brown suede armchairs and matching ottomans give a spot to sit. Dressers are made of lighter wood with granite tops, and they hide mini-fridges and coffeemakers; flat-screen TVs sit on top. Safes, free Wi-Fi, and turndown service are also standard in all rooms. Bathrooms feature spacious tan granite vanities that stretches the entire length
of the walls, as do the framed mirrors above. Putty-colored tiles line the
floor, and beige tile frames the shower/tub combos. Note that furniture in some rooms is showing wear, and several past guests have reported noise issues through thin walls, plus minor maintenance issues like broken locks, blocked toilets, and clogged tub drains. Standard Room options
include one king and two queen beds that encompass 305 square feet. The Premium Double-Queen is 329 square feet and includes a sleeper sofa. There are 16
suites: Executive Suites have 650 square feet and include sofas,
sitting areas, and dining tables. Hospitality Suites are about the same size and
have parlor areas and wet bars. The Pennsylvania and Bridal Suites surpass
1,000 square feet.
