The budget Comfort Inn at the Park offers vacationing
families and other travelers a solid overall value in a convenient location
near Hershey’s most popular attractions. The property's free hot breakfast includes eggs
and meat, and coffee and tea are free all day. The hotel is cheerful and well
maintained, with a spacious heated indoor pool and guest laundry facilities. Its
125 rooms are attractive and spacious, and many (but not all) include microwaves and
mini-fridges. Family suites offer three beds and bathrooms that are larger than
those in standard rooms, which are rather small. Rates are attractive but local
hotels often fill up in peak season, so it’s good to have a backup. The budget Best
Western Hershey Inn is a viable alternative that’s also convenient to most
attractions.
Scene
Family-oriented hotel in a quiet setting by a pond
The Comfort Inn at the Park is just a couple of minutes away from busy West Chocolate Avenue, but
its quiet, leafy setting makes it feel much farther. Housed in a tidy red
brick building, the hotel bumps up against a small duck pond that's a highlight for guests, especially children. (A vending machine by the waterfront sells duck feed.) Inside, the mood is equally peaceful, with a blue-sky ceiling mural
greeting guests as they enter the lobby. Shiny black granite floor tiles and nice
wood paneling and columns frame the front desk. The breakfast area that is surrounded by
more wood paneling and columns that give it a slightly elegant look. But beige tile floors and granite counters provide a practical foundation. It's spacious, but it
can get crowded during peak times, especially in the high tourist season when
families flock to this hotel for its convenient location and good overall
value.
Location
By busy West Chocolate Avenue, a seven-minute drive to downtown Hershey
The hotel is located on a quiet street just off busy West
Chocolate Avenue, about a five-minute drive to the Penn State Milton S. Hershey
Medical Center. A shopping plaza with a grocery and pharmacy is a four-minute
walk, and a few restaurants are a three-minute walk. Several other restaurants
are within several minutes of walking or only two minutes or so by car. Downtown
Hershey, ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, and Hersheypark Stadium are seven or eight minutes by car. Other major attractions
including The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Gardens, Hershey’s Chocolate World, and
Tanger Outlet Hershey are approximately eight minutes away by car. The Amtrak
Station in Middletown is about 15 minutes away by car, and the Harrisburg
International Airport can be reach in approximately 20 minutes. The
Pennsylvania Turnpike is about a 10-minute drive away.
Rooms
Clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, but with small bathrooms
Guest rooms at the Comfort Inn at the Park are tastefully decorated, although the motif is a bit dark and decor is unsurprising.
Earth-toned, striped carpet; white walls; and clay-colored accent walls give a mostly beige/brown backdrop. Tan bedding is topped with burnt-orange bed runners, and drapes are solid
beige. But framed contemporary art and photos add much-needed splashes of color. Matching, reddish-brown wood furniture includes dressers, desks,
nightstands, and headboards. Light brown upholstered armchairs and black office chairs on casters supply seating, and some One Queen Rooms have sleeper sofas paired with coffee tables. Standard room amenities include laptop-capable safes, coffeemakers, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Many guests have commented favorably on the comfort of the beds as well.
Bathrooms aren't as spacious or nicely finished as the bedrooms. Tan
granite vanity sinks are placed outside the bathrooms, which have
beige tile floors and acrylic shower/tub inserts. Family suites have three queens in two bedrooms and
larger bathrooms. Microwaves and
mini-fridges are available for a slight upgrade in room rates.
Features
Spacious heated indoor pool and freebies such as hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking
Features at Comfort Inn at the Park aren't extensive, but they add to the hotel's value and family appeal. The heated indoor pool is quite spacious, but there are no lounge chairs or whirlpool features. Free newspapers are on hand in the lobby on weekdays, and free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available all day. The hotel also provides a free hot breakfast, which includes eggs, meat, and
make-your-own waffles. But there are no lunch or dinner options on-site. Meeting space is available for up to 60 people, and a computer station with Internet access is located in the lobby for guest use. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property. Guests receive
free passes to a local fitness facility that is nearby, but the hotel itself
has no fitness center or exercise equipment. Laundry facilities are on-site, and valet dry cleaning and laundry services are offered. Ample free parking surrounds the hotel on its surface
lot. A small pond adjoins the hotel parking lot, and guests can feed the
numerous ducks from a coin-operated feed machine supplied by the hotel. Pets
are not allowed at the hotel.
