Offering a chic and cozy experience near the waterfront, Hotel Haven is a popular luxury hotel in Helsinki. Like the inviting interiors throughout the property, the 77 beautiful guest rooms combine stylishly worn wood with quirky textiles, and have minibars and free Wi-Fi. There are
three small restaurants adjacent to the hotel, as well as a bar with an
impressive whiskey selection. The hotel serves a free breakfast with hot and
cold items, but there’s no spa on-site. Guests recommend requesting a
room with a harbor view. It may be worth comparing rates with the less expensive Fabian Hotel, a favorite upscale boutique hotel offering quiet, stylish rooms, but no free breakfast.
Scene
Posh yet inviting hotel with three beautiful restaurants and cozy bar
The hotel entrance sets the stage for a warm, inviting stay: a chic courtyard with black-and-white-striped awnings, potted topiaries, and a soaring glass ceiling. Outdoor terrace space includes clusters of beige couches beside wood tables set with lanterns, offering lovely spots to sit when the weather warms. Inside, the lobby's matte checkerboard floor, oversized antique-style lamps, and colorful mural of animals on a carousel lend charming quirk. Guests love the bar, which is more like a living room with
a bartender: a long wooden table covered with spirits bottles -- including an
impressive whiskey assortment -- and a wine cabinet comprise the drink
selection, while a chessboard and fireplace kick
up the cozy ambience. Three separate, small restaurants provide a variety of settings in which to dine: nautical-themed Havis has an exposed kitchen, while Sundmans Krog has a gorgeous
brick wine cellar, and the Salon restaurant has a parlor feel with a small wooden bar,
tapestry rugs, and ornate wooden chairs. Many guests are business travelers, though couples and families are also frequent visitors, drawn to the relatively quiet harbor location and warm atmosphere.
Location
Near waterfront, Market Square, and Esplanadi Park
Hotel
Haven is located in the southeastern part of the city, near the waterfront and across the harbor from the ferry and cruise terminal. It’s
less than a five-minute walk to Market Square, where vendors sell Finnish foods
from spring to autumn. It’s also down the block from the Esplanadi Park, a great spot for picnics and live music in the summertime. Helsinki Airport is
around a 25-minute drive, or about 50 minutes by tram number 2 from Kauppatori stop, a few minutes' walk away. The central train station, Helsingin Rautatieasema, is about 15 minutes' walk.
Rooms
Modern yet cozy, with touches of color and pattern, high-tech safes, and minibars
With well-curated furnishings like distressed mirrors, interesting lamps with carved bases, colorfully patterned couches, and Egyptian cotton bedding in soothing grays and white, the rooms at Hotel
Haven look like they belong in an interior design magazine. All rooms are equipped with impressive technology, including Bang & Olufsen entertainment centers, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and separate bathroom TVs, and safes with electric outlets for charging
laptops. Stocked minibars and tea kettles are also standard. Modern bathrooms have tile floors, large
mirrors, and bathrobes and slippers; most have sleek shower/tub combos, but Luxe Rooms and Suites have separate soaking tubs and rainfall showerheads. Guests recommend
the Luxe Sea View Rooms for harbor views. Rooms are spacious, but upgrading to a Luxe Room (50 square meters, or over 500 square feet) or Suite (80 square meters, or 860 square feet) will ensure that guests have plenty of room to spread out.
