South Beach Hotel by Ocean Hotels
Rockley at Accra Beach

Aptly named for the the Miami neighborhood, the hip South Beach Hotel is an upper-middle-range property set along the south coast of Barbados. The 49 spacious studios and one-bedroom suites have chic decor, furnished balconies, pullout sofas, and granite-top kitchenettes or kitchens. For leisure, there's a long, narrow outdoor pool with ample surrounding seating, or guests can also walk across the street to Rockley Beach (the hotel provides free vouchers for loungers). If not cooking, one on-site restaurants and a poolside bar get a decent crowd. Free laundry and Wi-Fi add value, and gym on premises. Couples may prefer the adult-only Little Arches Boutique Hotel, which has 10 stylish rooms, a pool overlooking the ocean, and a spa treatment room.

Coconut Court Beach Hotel
The Garrison Historic Area

The mid-range Coconut Court Beach Hotel offers fantastic value. The large beach is lined with palm trees, and is nicer than that of many of the luxury hotels in the area. The pool area is large and scenic, and the on-site restaurant and beach bar are convenient and popular. The hotel has a great location close to Bridgetown, and bars, restaurants, and entertainment are within walking distance. Other perks include free Wi-Fi, airport transfers, and an on-site gift shop and convenience store. The dark, drab lobby and the rooms, though, are tired, basic, and nothing fancy. Bougainvillea Beach Resort, a similarly priced property on the south coast, has more modern rooms.

Savannah Beach Hotel
Garrison Rd

Set on the west coast of Barbados, a short drive from the airport, the upper-middle-range Savannah Beach Hotel is a family-friendly all-inclusive. The 19th-century main house is surrounded by winding pools and lush tropical gardens. Its 92 British colonial-style rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, and have patios or verandas, but some interiors feel dated. Three on-site restaurants serve food that's  constantly praised by guests for its quality and diversity. The rocky beach is less than ideal for swimming, however there’s a sandy beach a short walk away. Savannah suits families, couples, and small groups, but the property’s many stairs might make it difficult for mobility-challenged guests to navigate and the Wi-Fi is plain terrible. Travelers seeking an all-inclusive with fewer stairs may want to try nearby Sugar Bay instead.

Sugar Bay Barbados
Garrison Historic Area

Unfolding along a beautiful stretch of south coast beach in the historic Garrison district, the four-pearl Sugar Bay is an all-inclusive resort that reopened after an overhaul in 2015 for a fresh, contemporary island flavor. Its 138 rooms are cheerful and spacious (particularly higher categories), with large balconies or patios; and many have aqua beach views. Five-and-a-half acres of grounds pack in many features, from a full-service spa to four restaurants (the three a la carte options are constantly praised by guests) -- although the buffet restaurant and pool get crowded. The beach is postcard pretty with calm, protected swimming waters. Families, couples, and groups seeking a one-stop resort destination with a tropical vibe should be happy here. Those looking for lower rates should check the sister property: Bougainvillea Beach Resort, which also offers kitchenettes in the rooms.

The SoCo Hotel
Hastings Main Road End of Richard Haynes Boardwalk, Bridgetown Barbados

The SoCo Hotel is an all-inclusive boutique property located 10 minutes east of Bridgetown. The 24 bright, spacious rooms have balconies with ocean views as well as flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and iPod docks. Common areas are chic, and stylish decor in the lobby, restaurant, and small pool area includes large white candles and clean modern furniture. The beach is spacious and calm, but there aren't any water sport options for guests. Note that there is no fitness center or on-site spa (although spa treatments are available in-room) and some guests complain of traffic noise in the rooms. There's only one restaurant although it gets rave reviews. That said, guests looking for an all-inclusive hotel with more dining options may want to also consider Crystal Cove by Elegant Hotels, which is on the west coast and offers more dining options. Waves Barbados, another all-inclusive property 15-minutes away, has a fitness center as well as free non-motorized water sports.
