Bottom Line

The 64-room, upscale Ekies All Senses Resort offers stylish design in a natural environment on the coast of a stunning, peaceful bay in Halkidiki. There’s not much nearby, but on-site are a stunning beach, beautiful pool, small spa with an outdoor fitness area, and a fun kids’ club. Breakfast is free and there's a half-board package, in addition to a gourmet a la carte option and a fun treehouse restaurant. Chic, minimalist rooms and suites have comfy Coco-Mat mattresses, plus mini-fridges, DVD players, kettles, and outdoor spaces. Upgrades add lavish touches such as Nespresso machines, heated whirlpools, and private pools. For a more peaceful atmosphere with less activity from kids, Acrotel Athena Pallas Village has expansive grounds where quiet spaces can be found, though its beach is less appealing.

Scene

Trendy design in a kid-friendly hotel with beautiful, natural surroundings

Ekies All Senses Resort is a chic, modern hotel that appeals to nature lovers looking for a relaxing spot to spend days lounging on the beach. The hotel is very popular with families, particularly those with young children, so the romantic atmosphere couples seek often gives way to lively energy. Interiors have a stylish, contemporary design, with bright colors and seemingly disparate patterns that come together to create interesting and playful spaces. The lobby is an eclectic collection of furnishings, from a large platform covered in colorful pillows and pads, to a designer wiggle chair, to a long bench created from a single log -- and a range of styles in between. The grounds are lush and beautiful, with plenty of greenery, trees, and flowers, and the area surrounding the property is also lush and natural.

Location

Quiet coastal spot off Vourvourou Bay, on Greece’s central peninsula in Halkidiki

This hotel is on the coast in Sithonia, the central peninsula of Greece’s Halkidiki region. It is steps from the beach on Vourvourou Bay, in a quiet spot surrounded by nature. Within an eight-minute walk, guests can reach a good restaurant and two other beaches. There are a few other hotels in the area and some restaurants and shops on the main road, a 15-minute walk away. The small village of Neo Marmaras -- a 40-minute drive away -- is a lovely spot to enjoy the local culture with restaurants, shops, and sites. The town also has a ferry to a few points in the Aegean Sea. The nearest major city is Thessaloniki, nearly a two-hour drive away. Thessaloniki International Airport is a 90-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Contemporary rooms with lovely, playful design and modern amenities

Individually decorated rooms are cozy and appealing. Generally, light tones on walls and floors are accented with playful pops of colorful fabrics, murals, pillows, or rugs. Coco-Mat mattresses on queen-size beds and cozy chairs in sitting areas are comfortable for two guests, while upgraded rooms have space to spread out or to accommodate families. Balconies and terraces are furnished with chairs and a table, but some can be tiny. All rooms have small flat-screen TVs, DVD players, CD players, mini-fridges, kettles, and safes. Suites have options for added luxuries like king-size beds, rainfall showerheads, Nespresso machines, iPod docks, private garden terraces, heated whirlpools, and private pools.

Bathrooms are sleek and modern, with shower stalls or shower/tub combos. Some rooms have open bathrooms, which can be romantic but not appealing to everyone. Hairdryers and robes are provided, and free toiletries include soap, shower gel, and shampoo.

Features

Quality restaurants, free breakfast, a lovely pool, small spa, and a kids’ club

Quality amenities in a beautiful setting make this hotel a great spot to spend relaxing days, particularly with little ones. Delicious meals are available at multiple on-site restaurants. The main restaurant serves a free breakfast and half-board dinner, with an emphasis on fresh food -- including fresh-caught seafood -- and Greek cuisine. There are also a posh, but pricey, a la carte restaurant and a treehouse restaurant built on an elevated platform in the pines. The beach bar and small pool bar offer a range of cocktails, smoothies, and snacks.

A beautiful, freeform pool and wading pool -- along with a gorgeous strip of beach with shallow waters -- have ample free sunbeds and umbrellas. Children can take advantage of the kids’ club and playground. A small spa offers massages in a relaxed, natural setting and includes an outdoor fitness center, though cardio equipment is not available. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
