Hotel has generic, bland chain feel
This hotel is part of a small Spanish hotel chain, a 20-minute walk outside the heart of Granada. Its 169 rooms and suites are spacious and pleasant, with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and minibars. There is ample event and business space, a restaurant, and a fitness center. Guests looking for more charm and a more central location may want to check out the Room Mate Leo instead.
Scene
An agreeable chain hotel with a pretty atrium lobby
The Hotel Granada Center is a perfectly acceptable, pleasant place to stay but it won’t wow you with originality or luxury. The lovely, spacious lobby is high-ceilinged, plant-filled, and sun-drenched. It has modern chandeliers and wicker sofas and chairs with plush cushions, as well as seating areas with colorful tiled walls and comfy red armchairs. Rooms are positioned around the atrium, with vine-wrapped terraces overlooking the elevator and public space. From the higher levels, there are stunning Granada views out the windows. The vibe is relaxed and mellow, but the relentless beige used in the interior decor can feel a bit soulless. Some guests have complained of stale cigarette smoke lingering in the air.
Location
Near the University of Granada campus, a 20-minute-walk from the center of town
The Hotel Granada Center sits on a wide road in a largely residential neighborhood, right next to the University of Granada campus and the San Juan de Dios Church. It’s a bit off the beaten path from Granada’s historic city center; the walk to the heart of town takes about 15 or 20 minutes. The Granada Train Station is a five-minute stroll from the hotel. The neighborhood here has a college town feel, with plenty of low-key bars, restaurants, markets, and bakeries.
Rooms
Perfectly pleasant but uninspired chain hotel rooms
Rooms are spacious, sparkling clean, and comfortable, but the decor tends towards chain-hotel bland. The neutral color palette is a calming but dull: beige, white, and wood predominate. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, minibars, and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and suites come with whirlpool tubs. Bright white bathrooms are equipped with hairdryers and a larger than average selection of toiletries.
Features
A fitness center, a restaurant, and ample space for business conferences and events
The fitness center here is small, but modern machines and big windows make it a pleasant place to work out. Four meeting and conference rooms can accommodate up to 260 people, and there’s free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Parking is available for a fee. The Granada Center's cafe/restaurant has sloping ceilings, white tablecloths, and salmon pink walls, and serves everything from snacks to steaks.
