Hotel entertainment can get noisy
The Revoli Aparthotel is an upper-mid-range, 181-apartment property built near the bottom of the mountainside that overlooks Puerto Rico Bay. Its bottom of the hill location means easy access to Puerto Rico's town center and the sandy beach, though this also means the views aren't as spectacular as they are from other hotels higher up. Most of the clean, modern apartments have balconies with views of the sea. They all come with kitchenettes -- but Wi-Fi and TV usage cost extra. While the Revoli is a decent choice, there are less-expensive hotels in the area with about the same level of services, so travelers might want to compare rates with the Hotel Riosol or ClubHotel Riu Vistamar.
Scene
Modern, family-focused hotel popular with tour groups
Built in 1983, the Revoli was renovated in 2011 and relaunched as the modern, holiday complex it is today. Passing through a relatively unassuming entrance off a quiet road, guests will find the lobby located at the highest point of the hotel. The rooms cascade down six floors, and the pool and restaurant are situated on the ground level. The Revoli is a family-friendly hotel centered around a busy swimming pool, though the ambience is relaxed and quiet except for the noise that the hotel's entertainment program generates. Many guests are vacationing families on package tours, especially during the summer, while couples traveling independently predominate in the winter.
Location
Consisting of terraced floors built into lower part of a hill, the hotel is within walking distance of Puerto Rico town center
The hotel is located toward the bottom of a mountainside that overlooks Puerto Rico Bay in the southwest area of Gran Canaria. Unlike many hotels farther up the hill, this property offers easy access to the town center and sandy Amadores Beach, which is within a five-minute walk, but its downhill position means the views are not quite as stunning as those of the more elevated hotels. Gran Canaria Airport is about 30 miles away.
Rooms
Renovated apartments with kitchenettes, modern appliances, and TV and Wi-Fi for a fee
The hotel has 181 apartments, all of which are clean and bright with simple Ikea-style furnishings. All include a lounge area with a sofa and flat-screen TV, but TV service comes with a fee. Wi-Fi also costs extra. Apartments include kitchenettes with up-to-date appliances (microwaves, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges) and large furnished balconies, many of which offer sea views -- some ground floor apartments have small terraces instead. Bathrooms are modern with walk-in glass showers, and no toiletries other than a pink dispenser of liquid soap mounted to the wall.
Features
Large outdoor swimming pool, kids' pool and activities, and alively day and evening entertainment program
The large freeform pool is surrounded by a sun terrace and comfy loungers, though there can be a shortage during peak season. The poolside bar serves cocktails and snacks. Entertainment is energetic during the day and popular with kids, but the hotel can get a little noisy at night. The hotel restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and dinner every day, and barbecue every week. There's a mini-market on-site for self-catering supplies. For kids, there's a kids' club with supervised activities and a separate kids' pool. Coin-operated laundry is a convenient feature.
