Some rooms are not as up-to-date as others; the more modern rooms are simple but breezy, with a buttery yellow color scheme and balconies. Showers, however, are tiny. Nonetheless, this property offers a solid all-inclusive value with an extensive buffet restaurant, a massive pool, and a lovely spa.
Scene
With a spa and private nude terrace, this property attracts couples -- but families are also catered to.
The Hotel Eugenia Victoria has plenty of space for relaxing, socializing, sunbathing, or any combination of the three. The lobby features a gorgeous marble terrace with beautifully upholstered chairs in oranges, browns, and golds. While it's a popular resort, it rarely feels crowded and the pool has plenty of loungers. The spa and private terrace for nude sunbathing are perks for couples (who make up the main part of the clientele), but families also appreciate the spacious rooms and large playground.
Location
Near the center of Playa del Ingles, with lots to do, and an easy ride to the beach
The Hotel Eugenia Victoria is in Playa del Ingles, an easy 10-minute walk from the city center with its restaurants, bars, and busy nightlife. The Eugenia Victoria is surrounded by hotels, with the famed Playa del Ingles beach about a half-mile away. Windsurfing, water skiing, jet-skiing, and other water sports are available at the beach, and the clothing averse will enjoy the nudist section. There is a significant gay scene in Playa del Ingles and nearby Maspalomas.
Rooms
Buttery gold decor, ambient lighting, and balconies with pool views
The more up-to-date rooms at the Hotel Eugenia Victoria are immaculate, understated, and stylish, decorated in shades of buttery yellow, with ambient light sources that make things glow. The furniture is contemporary, with clean lines and brushed nickel accents; bright art photography of islands, dunes, and other tropical scenery lines the walls. It's not particularly upscale, but it's attractive and fits the tranquil, beachy vibe of the resort. Each room has a balcony with a pool view, and a sitting area. Bathrooms are modern, with bright red-and-white tile, and glass shower stalls -- that are tiny. Large flat-screen TVs receive approximately 70 channels in a variety of languages. Wi-Fi is free.
Features
Plenty of facilities for active types -- and those who prefer to relax
There is a lot to do at the Hotel Eugenia Victoria. The kids' club has a large playground, with such activities as mini karaoke and arts and crafts. For adults, there is water polo, water aerobics, squash, tennis, and a state-of-the-art fitness center, not to mention the spa. Massages, wraps, and treatments cost extra, but there are saunas, steams, pools galore, and couches for napping if the urge overtakes and access to the spa is free. The spa is designed with a combination of rough stone walls and bright, Moorish mosaics and architecture that make it feel like an ancient bathhouse hidden in a series of caves and grottoes. The solarium and pool offer alternative napping and sunning spots. A private terrace allows for nude sunbathing. There is a fun, modern business center and a space age-looking Internet area for connecting with the outside world. There are three bars on-site. Drago Bar has a large dance floor, a long bar, and an expanse of rounded wicker chairs and tables that manages to feel intimate despite its size. Pepe Bar has trees growing out of the green marble floor. The Palmera Bar serves afternoon snacks and a light a la carte menu, with live music and dancing in the evenings, and wicker furniture that is reminiscent of an old tea salon without any of the stuffiness. The main restaurant serves an extensive buffet.
