Bungalows Duna Beach

Duna Beach Apartments is more like an apartment complex than a hotel. The typical old-fashioned seaside complex is starting to look a bit drab. The exterior, however, still looks okay with clean white walls, lush lawns, tall palm trees, and well-maintained gardens. Inside, the lobby is a bright area with lightly-tiled floors and a few chairs with pretty floral cushions. The restaurant and bar area could do with some freshening up, since the tables and chairs look a bit shabby. The bar area does have a nice Spanish vibe though, with traditional patterned mosaic tiles lining the bar counter and floorboards. Guests should be warned of the many cats roaming the property, though previous guests haven't noted them to be too much of a problem and they help keep the cockroaches in check. Guests are a combination of families and group travelers who are happy with the simple, slightly dated, features for the budget-friendly rates.

The Duna Beach Apartments complex is situated within the Maspalomas Golf Course, with only other resorts and hotels within the immediate vicinity. Maspalomas Botanical Garden is a four-minute drive from the property and a five-minute drive from Maspalomas, where there are several restaurants, bars, and shops. There is a beach shuttle that runs from the hotel for an additional fee. It's a 10-minute drive to the Playa del Ingles beaches and the Maspalomas Dunes. Other nearby attractions include Holiday World Maspalomas (six-minute drive away) and Aqualand Maspalomas Water Park (a 10-minute drive away). It's a 15-minute walk to the nearest bus stop, and there are usually a few taxis right outside of the complex. Gran Canaria Airport is about a 26-minute drive from the property.

Duna Beach Apartments' 136 apartments are spacious, though they have quite dated and plain decor. Expect old-fashioned tiled floors, beige walls with brightly-colored feature walls, standard beds with blue and green floral bedspreads, ugly lime green curtains, and dark wooden furniture. All apartments have separate lounge and dining areas as well as private balconies with sun loungers furnished with a plastic set of table and chairs. Amenities in all apartments include flat-screen TVs and kitchenettes with mini-fridges, burners, microwaves, coffeemakers, and cutlery. Wi-Fi and air-conditioning units are available for an additional fee. Bathrooms include little more than towels and shower/tub combos. Hairdryers and toiletries are not provided. Previous guests have complained of cockroaches in the ground floor rooms.

Duna Beach Apartments has enough features to keep most guests busy. The on-site restaurant serves both buffet and a la carte meals throughout the day. Meal packages are available but food receives mixed reviews. Connected to the restaurant is the pool bar. The outdoor pool area includes a large swimming pool, smaller pool, and two shallow kids' pools. The area is also surrounded by ample sun loungers and parasols. Two pool tables and table tennis are presented under a shaded area by the pool. A full outdoor tennis court is also available. The on-site supermarket sells a variety of convenience items like snacks, fresh produce, beverages (including alcoholic), toiletries, and toys. Both the on-site parking and Wi-Fi throughout the property cost extra. Additional features include a kids' playground, self-service laundry (for a fee), internet corner, front desk safe, and airport transfer (for a fee).
