Bottom Line

Located across from a long beach, the Palace Hotel has a convenient and picturesque location in Glyfada. The 79 rooms are a bit basic with mostly twin beds and walk-in showers, but prices are low for a mid-range property with some good features. The comfortable hotel has a posh pool area with a cafe serving drinks and snacks that can be converted to an indoor pool area in inclement weather. There’s a restaurant with sea views and a modern bar area. Those willing to spend more and looking for an upscale experience may want to consider the Brasil Suites Hotel, a modern hotel with stylish rooms equipped with full kitchens.

Scene

Posh pool area with sea views and cushiony chairs

The outside of the Palace Hotel is flanked by palm trees and has a dated, Vegas look about it, but other common areas are more modern in style. The pool is particularly posh, with a wooden deck, cute wooden-slatted side tables, and cushiony lounge chairs in gray and brown. There’s a cafe bar that serves drinks and snacks and seating is available in wicker chairs. There's also a modern bar inside with trendy frosted chairs and glass tables. Potted palm trees give the space a tropical feel, and the entire area can be covered when the weather calls for it. The hotel is across from the beach, and there are views of the sea from the restaurant area, the pool, and room balconies.

Location

Across from public beach in a seaside suburb of Athens

The hotel is next to a residential building and between a busy highway and a quiet beach road. It's just across from a public beach in a seaside suburb of Athens, a 20-minute drive south of the city center. It’s less than a five-minute drive to the center of Glyfada where there are restaurants, shops, and bars. Both the Athens International Airport and Piraeus Port are around a 25-minute drive.

Rooms

Basic rooms with small bathrooms and walk-in showers

The rooms at Palace Hotel aren’t quite up to the modern standards found in the rest of the property. Decor includes cheap-looking tables and nightstands, and rooms have an overall basic feel, with light walls and wooden flooring. All rooms have coffee/tea-making facilities, flat-screen TVs, and small sea-facing balconies furnished with chairs and tables. Bathrooms are small and have walk-in showers. Note that rooms don't pick up a Wi-Fi signal.

Features

Restaurant with daily breakfast buffet and indoor/outdoor modern pool

The food at the Palace Hotel's on-site restaurant gets good reviews and a buffet breakfast is included in room rates. The pool area is modern with lounge chairs and seating areas as well as a poolside cafe serving drinks and snacks. There’s also an indoor bar and an Internet corner with two computers. Two conference rooms are available for meetings, one of which has an outdoor terrace with sea views. There’s free parking and free Wi-Fi in common areas, but guests may have trouble accessing the Wi-Fi from the pool area.
