Scene

Elegant, old-fashioned grandeur

The 117-room hotel exudes grandeur, from the high-ceilinged lobby filled with marble and carved wood to common areas such as the Sala Relax, with its dramatic red walls and inlaid wood floors. Both the Tralalero Trattoria and the Bar Royal have an old-fashioned, clubby feel. The rooftop terrace has a more modern look and offers breathtaking views of the port and the Lighthouse of Genoa.

Location

Short walk to the port, across from the main train station

The hotel is across the street from the Genova Piazza Principe railway station, where travelers can also find the buses to the city center, as well as the metro and taxis. There’s not much in the immediate area surrounding the hotel, though it’s about a 10-minute walk to the city’s historic center and the Old Port with the Aquarium of Genoa and Eataly. On the way to the port, along the Via Balbi, is the Royal Palace Museum.

Rooms

Chic and sophisticated rooms, plus quirky themed suites

The guest rooms resemble chic apartments, with beautiful herringbone wood floors and artsy touches, such as the headboard made up of a large, sepia-toned nautical photograph in the Classic Room, and green trunks at the foot of the beds in the Deluxe Family Room. Then there are the themed suites. For fitness enthusiasts, the Gym Suite has a treadmill, while the rose-colored Secret Suite has soft lighting and free entry to the spa. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, safes, tea kettles, and minibars tucked away in cabinets. Large bathrooms have curtained tubs and showers with modern fixtures, and the suites also have stall showers.

Features

Terrace with hot tubs, spa and restaurants

The hotel offers a few luxurious amenities, including a rooftop terrace with whirlpools and a large spa, along with a small fitness center. There’s also a kids' play area, the Pirate's Garden, with a wooden ship inside. The Novecento Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, while the Tralalero Trattoria is open for both lunch and dinner. The hotel has several meeting rooms, including one on the top floor with views of the city.
