Movenpick Hotel & Casino Geneva

With fourteen floors of brown-tinted windows, the Moevenpick Hotel and Casino Geneva is a luxury property that’s conveniently near the airport, attracting business travelers and tourists on layovers. The Casino du Lac offers a bar, gambling tables, and 150 slot machines. The unexciting airport location, which is removed from the Geneva sites, means prices are lower here than other five-pearl properties in the city. Stylish furnishings fill the lobby that also features a white tufted front desk where there’s a flat-screen TV that shows the airport shuttle's arrival time. Modern, high-back armchairs are placed in the lounge areas, offering ample seating to work or relax. Hallways have a classic feeling with two elevators that feature Art Deco frames and a marble staircase with gold railings. The location offers ample plane-spotting opportunities for aviation enthusiasts. 

Surrounded by busy roads, the hotel is situated beside the International Center Cointrin, and it's five minutes via a free shuttle to the Geneva International Airport. There are few restaurants around, other than at the airport, and there's not much within walking distance of the property, but Palexpo and the Geneva Arena are a five-minute drive away. Tucked between the Jura Mountains and French Alps, Geneva is home to hundreds of NGOs and international organizations such as the Red Cross Museum and the United Nations, which are a 20-minute bus trip away. Free public transportation cards are available at the hotel, and it takes about 30 minutes to commute to the Old Town, which is filled with cafes, restaurants, and sights like the Saint Pierre Cathedral, Barbier-Mueller Museum, and Maison Tavel.

Contemporary rooms feature streamlined decor, blonde-wood furniture, and little hits of cherry red or blue courtesy of the boxy, modern armchairs. All rooms have large work desks, flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, irons, digital safes, and free Wi-Fi. Business Rooms and suites have added Nespresso machines, MP3 stations, and sitting areas or separate living rooms, while Junior Suites offer living/dining rooms and guest toilets. Swiss Suites, which feature Swiss chalet designs, are located on the top floor and have beautiful mountain views, living/dining rooms, and two bathrooms. Sky Suites have panoramic airport views. The small bathrooms, decorated in white tiles and black marble vanity sinks, and are outfitted with walk-in showers or shower/tub combos (some with both), bathrobes, hairdryers, and playful rubber ducks. 

The hotel has two on-site restaurants: the stylish Kamome Japanese restaurant with traditional built-in stoves at dining tables where chefs do cooking performances or guests can cook their own food; and the Moevenpick restaurant, which serves Swiss and international fare and has a summer terrace. The Maraicher restaurant is located next door at the International Center Cointrin and there's also a piano bar, the stylish Gate 20 Bar and Lounge. 

The 14th-floor Sky Gym is equipped with modern cardio machines in an attractive, sunny space with hardwood floors and views of the airport runway and Jura mountains. The gym also has free weights and a fitness studio with flat-screen TVs, a stage and a projection screen, spin bicycles, weights, and step aerobics equipment. Guests also have access, for a fee, to the nearby Silhouette Fitness Club that has a sauna and hammam. 

Nineteen event spaces feature luxurious designs and can fit up to 800 people. Private dinners can be accommodated in the Belle Epoque dining event space, beautifully topped with stained-glass skylights. Meeting rooms have suitcases filled with office supplies and modern audiovisual equipment. There’s also a hospitality desk with an espresso station and a banquet hall with lounge areas. Two computer workstations are available to guests in the lobby.
