Oranhill Lodge is
a friendly bed-and-breakfast off N18 -- the main route connecting Derry and Cork -- and is about a 15-minute drive
to Galway city center, and a five-minute walk to Oranmore Village. The seven rooms at this two-and-a-half pearl property are fresh and bright, with modern en-suite
bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and tea- and coffee-making facilities (unusual in bed-and-breakfasts), though rooms, especially Standard Singles and family-style Triples, are on the small side. Breakfast, included in the room rate, is a real highlight, with an excellent made-to-order full Irish breakfast, or a continental buffet with home-baked bread and scones. The knotty wood floors and furnishings add a homey ambience, and with its private bathrooms and lovely patio area, Oranhill Lodge is good value. But for a local pick with a bit more buzz, check out The Coach House Hotel in the village center.
Scene
Family-run bed-and-breakfast with knotty-wood interiors and engaging hosts
A private
driveway off the main road leads through a set of wrought-iron gates to the
family-run Oranhill Lodge -- a large and modern, double-fronted redbrick house
set within manicured gardens. The lobby leads to an immaculate lounge
with leather sofas and a fireplace, and to the bright, airy breakfast room with an outdoor patio space. Knotty pinewood doorways and floorboards create a homey ambience, while a wooden staircase connects the three floors (there's no
elevator). Upstairs another lounge area leads to a small furnished balcony overlooking the
garden. The owners of this bed-and-breakfast, Michael and Ann, provide an
especially warm welcome to guests, who include families and mature couples from Europe and the United States.

Bright knotty-pine rooms with en-suite bathrooms and 32-inch flat-screen TVs
The seven rooms at Oranhill Lodge are all well-presented, with modern country-style decor that includes knotty-pine floors and

are clean and modern, with step-in showers but no tubs. Rooms can be on the
small side, particularly the Standard Triple Rooms with multiple beds and the Standard Singles. Some rooms face the road, but road noise is not a problem (though
some noise between rooms isn't uncommon).
