The hotel has done a lot of updates and refurbishment projects since 2016, including new hallway carpet, replacing lobby furniture, new gym equipment, adding an ozone generator and UV light system for the pool, and upgrading the Wi-Fi system. That’s not to say that the hotel has a modern design -- it’s still homey and chain-inspired. The lobby is small, but offers cozy couches and armchairs for those waiting to check in. The breakfast room is simple with golden walls, wooden chairs, and some beach-inspired decor. Though guests note clean rooms, many have commented on cleanliness issues in public spaces like the hallways and elevators. Overall, it’s a good pick for a relaxed atmosphere and low prices across the street from the beach.

Despite the name, Quality Inn & Suites Beachfront is not directly on the beach. There’s a couple of restaurants (like a McDonald's) and a road between the hotel and the sand. The location is pretty great as there are plenty of dining options on surrounding streets and the Galveston Island Convention Center is just a five-minute walk away. It’s a 12-minute drive to Moody Gardens and the Historic Downtown Galveston. Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark takes seven minutes to reach by car. The William P. Hobby Airport of Houston is about a 45-minute drive away.
