This two-pearl holiday resort is popular with European couples looking for affordable apartments in the center of Caleta de Fuste. There are two vastly different types of apartment here. Standard Apartments are unfortunately quite dated and lack basics like air-conditioning, while Superior Apartments are more modern. Both options have kitchenettes, living areas, and balconies or terraces. The property has limited facilities, but there is a small outdoor pool and bar, plus a shopping arcade nearby. Within the arcade are a couple of restaurants that are included in the hotel's half-board dining packages. Travelers looking for a larger budget hotel with extras like a tennis court and playground for kids might compare rates with the Caleta Garden instead.
Scene
Budget hotel that draws a mix of European couples looking for affordable apartments
Villa Florida is a small holiday village located in the center of Caleta de Fuste, with plenty of amenities nearby. During our 2017 visit, a new contemporary lobby was being built that will allow guests to access the property directly from the main street. Even so, the property is a mixed bag when it comes to quality, with traditional, dated apartments, and more modern apartments grouped into small clusters throughout pretty gardens. Within the resort there's a quiet atmosphere, as most guests relax beside the pool during the day. Attractive landscaped borders line the edge of the property, and collections of cacti in terra-cotta pots decorate communal areas. The property attracts a mixture of young and mature guests, and caters to British, French, Spanish, and German couples looking for affordable apartments in a busy tourist area.
Location
In central Caleta de Fuste, a seven-minute walk to the beach and harbor
Villa Florida is in a busy area, with plenty to see and do just outside the resort. Directly in front of the hotel is an arcade with a supermarket and a couple of restaurants, and more dining options can be found opposite the hotel. It’s a seven-minute walk to the harbor boardwalk that runs along the beachfront, with pleasant views of the beach and ocean. The tourist information office for Caleta de Fuste is a seven-minute walk from the hotel. It’s a five-minute drive to the nearest golf course, and six minutes to the popular Atlantico shopping center. One of this resort’s selling points is its location in the middle of the island, just an 11-minute drive from Fuerteventura's airport. The capital, Puerto del Rosario, is a 15-minute drive away, with its harbor area and quaint traditional Canarian houses. Farther north, the town of Corralejo is 40 minutes away by car.
Rooms
A combination of outdated and modern apartments, each offering different amenities
On first impressions, this two-pearl property might seem a tad dated, but there two vastly different apartment options available. Standard Apartments are done in '80s decor, including patterned bedding, sherbet soft furnishings, and brown kitchens. Everything in this category has seen better days, from worn tile floors to tired fabric sofas and wobbly furniture. Amenities in these units include kitchens with microwaves, fridges, coffeemakers, toasters, and breakfast bars. Additional features include ceiling fans, small flat-screen TVs, telephones, and safes, but no air-conditioning or free Wi-Fi. En-suite bathrooms are dark, but clean, and have the essential facilities including shower/tub combos, vanity mirrors, and towels. Superior Apartments are a nice step up, and are done in a fresh gray and white palette. Clean white walls, pale gray sofa beds, glass coffee tables, and white veneer furniture make them far more modern. The open-plan kitchens are well-equipped with breakfast bars, ovens, microwaves, full-size fridges, kettles, toasters, utensils, pots, and pans. Expect laminate flooring and fresh white linens, plus free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning. Attractive bathrooms have power showers. All rooms have spacious balconies or terraces with patio chairs and tables overlooking the pool. Wine, chocolate, tea, and coffee are included as a welcome gift.
Features
Outdoor pool, shopping arcade, and half-board dining options available
This hotel has a limited range of features. The outdoor pool is relatively small for the property's size, but it serves its purpose just fine. There are plenty of sun loungers, a lifeguard on duty, and the pool is heated in the winter season. The octagonal Red Lion pool bar serves snacks and drinks throughout the day. A shopping arcade runs along the front of the hotel, and includes a supermarket, souvenir shop, and a restaurant. Guests can eat there on a half-board basis for breakfast and dinner, or at the nearby Chinese restaurant for dinner. The main restaurant serves a range of hot and cold options, including cooked breakfast, sandwiches, ice cream, tapas, burgers, and cocktails. It's worth noting that there is no restaurant within the hotel complex itself, and travelers will have to venture out for their meals. Street parking is free, and Wi-Fi is free in public areas (and Superior Apartments). A luggage room with a shower is available for arriving or departing guests.
