Robinson Club Esquinzo Playa

This quiet holiday village is relatively isolated, and has a relaxed vibe. The resort is well-equipped with sports facilities, meaning most guests choose to stay on-site and around the beach during the day. Common areas are freshly decorated, with seating dotted around the property, and a central information desk for tour and travel enquiries. A large children’s pool with a pirate ship is the only noisy area in the resort, and an adult-only pool offers couples a quiet space to relax if required. In the evening, families gather around the main bar area where live music and theater shows are held. Little touches make this hotel feel like a community, like a  guide book in each room describing the animal and plant species in the area to staff joining guests to dine together in the evening. 

Esquinzo Beach can be accessed directly from the hotel. The nearest town is Jandia, a 12-minute drive away, or around 30 minutes by bike. Jandia has plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants, plus a lighthouse and a beautiful beach to explore. Buggy and boat tours are also popular with families, and can be booked from the resort information desk. The quaint beach at Cofete is a 52-minute drive away, and is a favorite with the locals, but the access road is mostly dirt track so visitors with rental cars should take care. The airport is about 70 minutes away by car.

Room blocks are named after different Canarian islands, and some are separated by a flight of stairs, which is worth noting for those with limited mobility. Inside, Single Rooms are relatively small at 18 square meters (194 square feet), but have a modern feel, with an open plan bedroom and living area, tiled floors, hardwood furniture, and comfortable sofa beds. Superior Double Rooms are noticeably larger at 26 square meters (280 square feet). Features include free Wi-Fi, electric fans (no air-conditioning), wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and a bottle of water. Inside the large wardrobe there’s a safe, robe, and plenty of hanging space.  Family Rooms have two separate bedrooms and a sofa bed suitable for five adults, or four adults and a child. Bathrooms have a shower but no bath, tiled floors, sleek vanities, fresh white towels, and basic toiletries. All rooms have a balcony or terrace with table and chairs, plus views of the gardens or ocean. Some upper level rooms have particularly picturesque views of Esquinzo Beach.

This resort is geared towards family sporting activities, with highlights including four outdoor pools, water sports equipment, and extensive tennis facilities. The four outdoor pools include one full-sized sports pool, one adult-only pool, a kids' pool, and the main pool. There are 11 outdoor and indoor tennis courts on the property that can be booked for free, and tennis coaches provide free lessons to guests. On the beach, a water-sports kiosk has free catamarans, surfing and kite surfing equipment, and free lessons are available. The beach bar doesn't belong to the hotel but during our visit we noticed guests meeting there before or after enjoying the water sports.

An adult-only spa area has a gym, two saunas, an outdoor pool, treatment rooms, and a pool bar. A weekly schedule of fitness classes includes aqua fit, Pilates, cycling, and dancing. A huge 600-seat theater has shows most evenings, with resort staff performing on stage, plus a separate band stage that hosts visiting musicians and DJs. There is a full-size football pitch, and a beach volleyball court that can be booked in advance. A painting studio offers art lessons for adults and children for a fee. The kids' club is staffed in high season. Babysitting, first aid, and medical services are available on-site. Near the reception and main bar area, there is a clothing shop, souvenir shop, a photographer’s studio, and a service center for tour information and pool towels. 

Food is served on an all-inclusive basis, including some premium alcohol. The main buffet restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a variety of hot and cold choices, including low carb, vegan, and vegetarian options. The resort operates a two week rotating evening meal program including Italian and Mediterranean themed nights, and there is often live music in the restaurant. Communal dining is encouraged and most tables seat six to eight people. A separate area at the back of the restaurant is reserved for children to eat with the kids' club. The resort has three speciality restaurants. La Terraza serves late breakfast and late lunch. Twice a week La Vita, the A La Carte restaurant, opens for dinner and is not part of the all-inclusive package. La Tasca, the tapas restaurant, is open three days a week. A sports bar with football shirts decorating the walls, turf on the floor, and two large TV screens, serves drinks throughout the day. There is Wi-Fi throughout the resort but service can be intermittent at times. Three conference rooms can be booked for meetings, and parking is free.
