Bottom Line

The Westin Grand Frankfurt is a 371-room upscale hotel that's grand and imposing both inside and out. There are tons of amenities, including three restaurants and three bars, an indoor pool and spa facilities, a 24-hour fitness center, and a 24-hour business center with 13 meeting rooms. The rooms are pleasant and fairly well-kept, but the decor is a bit boring and there are signs of wear and tear. The jewel in this hotel's crown is its location, very close to the Zeil shopping street and an underground station, and a short walk to some of the city's major sights.

Scene

Grand building but cozy feel that attracts business and leisure travelers alike

Housed in a huge, imposing building with flags hanging outside, the Westin Grand Frankfurt has a grand presence. A revolving door leads into the cavernous lobby with its polished tile floor and comfortable seating, including a daybed. Amongst the neutral furnishings and soft lighting, which changes subtly, are a couple of classic cars and a grand piano on display. The clientele is a mix of business and leisure travelers, and the atmosphere reflects that, feeling at once professional and laid back. Overall, the hotel manages to retain a cozy and comfortable feel, which is no small feat given the property's size.

Location

Downtown location, close to sights and shopping

The Westin is centrally located, in an area filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's a couple of minutes' walk to the famous Zeil shopping street and three blocks from an underground station. In 10 minutes, it's possible to walk to Frankfurt Cathedral or the Romer, Frankfurt's famous medieval city hall. The airport is about 20-minutes away by car or public transport.

Rooms

Stylish but bland decor, flat-screen TVs, and comfy beds

Pale walls and carpets are given a splash of color with accent walls and striped curtains in the Westin Grand Frankfurt's 371 rooms. Dark-wood furniture and modern art prints complete the contemporary, but slightly bland, look. Black and off-white marble bathrooms have rainfall showerheads and separate handheld showers and come with fluffy robes. All rooms offer coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free water and newspapers. The beds are reportedly comfortable with soft white linens. On the downside, there's a hefty fee for using the Wi-Fi, and some of the furniture in the rooms is showing wear and tear.

Features

Elegant indoor pool, modern fitness center, multiple bars and restaurants, and extensive business facilities

Guests at the Westin Grand Frankfurt needn't go hungry: there are three restaurants and multiple bars on-site. San San offers modern Chinese cuisine, Sushimoto has Japanese food, and Motions Restaurant serves a daily breakfast for a fee. Bars include Grand Seven Bar, Davidoff Cigar Lounge, and a poolside bar. The indoor pool is small but elegant, flanked by white columns and surrounded by black lounge chairs, with views over the city rooftops. Emotion Spa offers a range of treatments, including massages, scrubs, and aromatherapy, and there's a steam room and sauna. At the modern 24-hour fitness center, guests can rent sports shoes, so there's no excuse not to work out. The hotel also has a 24-hour business center and an impressive13 meeting rooms. Expect to pay for Wi-Fi.
