With close proximity to a huge convention center, as well as rooms designed just for business travelers, the centrally located NH Frankfurt Villa caters to both business and leisure travelers on what's a relatively small scale for the hotel group. The three-pearl property only has 24 rooms, which are modern and have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and espresso machines, but are rather plain and generic. There's little in the way of frills -- breakfast and Wi-Fi are about all you'll find here -- but it's enough for travelers who want a place to put their heads at night. Those looking for a few more features and pizazz should check out 25hours Hotel, which is close to the train station and offers stylish rooms along with free bicycles, iPads, and two meeting rooms.
Scene
Contemporary, no-frills hotel caters especially to business travelers
Looking deceivingly like a normal apartment building, except for the sign above its covered entryway, the Frankfurt Villa is a smaller property (24 rooms) than the average NH-brand hotel. It's low on frills, but a good place if all someone's looking for is a comfy spot to put their head. NH's hotels cater to both business and leisure travelers, and the Frankfurt Villa location is no exception -- though its central location, special business rooms, and proximity to a convention center swing the balance toward business travelers. Guests with mobility issues, however, should note that there's no elevator to take them between the hotel's three floors. Staff, however, can assist with luggage.
Location
Centrally located, a short walk to the convention center
The hotel is centrally located on a quiet street in Frankfurt, with a good number of bars and restaurants in the immediate area (handy, since there's no restaurant on-site). It's a five-minute walk to Frankfurt's Messe Fair, a huge site for conventions and conferences. For a break between sessions or a great spot for a stroll, the Palmengarten is a six-minute cab ride or 18-minute walk away. The Varrentrappstraße light rail station is just two minutes away on foot. The hotel is about eight minutes by car from Frankfurt's central train station, or a 12-minute journey by public transit.
Rooms
Contemporary and comfortable, if generic
The hotel is one of NH's smallest, with just 24 rooms. They're done in a rather generic palette of browns and beiges, though the rooms are modern and spacious, and beds are comfortable. Rooms are all air-conditioned and have flat-screen TVs, minibars, digital safes, and Nespresso machines and kettles to make coffee and tea. Some of the rooms cater specifically to business travelers with the addition of a table and chair in a suite-style seating area. Ironing boards and irons are only available upon request. Straightforward bathrooms come with showers or shower/tub combos, as well as hairdryers, free toiletries, and magnifying mirrors.
Features
Breakfast room, but few other amenities to speak of
The hotel is low on frills, lacking a gym, full restaurant, bar, and spa. Breakfast, which starts early and ends mid-morning, unfortunately isn't included in the room rate. Those who choose to pay for it at the hotel will find a continental spread (cold cuts, cheeses, breads) and hot dishes made-to-order. In one of NH's best perks, travelers checking out on a Sunday have until 5 p.m. to check out. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the property. Parking on-site is limited (less than 10 spaces) and comes at a reasonable charge; parking off-site is much more expensive and about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
