Scene

Historic Frankfurt hotel with a contemporary lobby and Art Nouveau exterior

Built in 1909, the Le Méridien Frankfurt has an Art Nouveau exterior that’s accented by white awnings on the ground floor and marquees over the two entrances. The eight-story hotel, under the Marriott International umbrella, sits on a small street that’s within walking distance of the Hauptbahnhof train station. Large white pillars, marble floors, and neon recessed lights fill the spacious lobby, along with three modern check-in counters and a concierge desk. Half of the hotel has preserved the historical details, such as iron railings and antique paintings, which line the stairs near an old-fashioned elevator. There are three elevators in the modernized section, and lounges with sleek furniture. The convenient location near public transportation and the on-site business facilities draw many business travelers, but couples and solo tourists (the hotel has single rooms) can also find much to like. Twelve meeting rooms -- with classic or contemporary furnishings -- fit up 300 people. The 24-hour business center has four PC computers and a printer. The fitness center includes a 24-hour gym with modern cardio equipment, a flat-screen TV, free weights, and a rooftop terrace with lounge furniture. There’s also a sauna and treatment rooms.

Location

Central Frankfurt location near the Hauptbahnhof

Located in the Wiesenhuttenplatz District, the hotel sits beside a park, and is three blocks from the main train station. It's within walking distance to the Goethe House, the English Theatre, and the Main River, whose embankment includes the Stadel Museum. Restaurants, shops, markets, cafes, and banks surround the hotel. The Business District, with the Messe Frankfurt, is within a 15-minute walk. Romer is a 13-minute S-Bahn ride. It’s eight minutes by S-Bahn to MyZeil and the Zeil shopping street. The Frankfurt Zoo is 30 minutes away by S-Bahn. It’s at least a 15-minute drive to the Frankfurt Airport, depending on traffic.

Rooms

Traditional and modern rooms include flat-screen TVs, sitting areas, and Frankfurt street views

The hotel has Classic, Superior Executive, Deluxe rooms, and Junior Suites. Classic and Executive Rooms and Junior Suites, with their classic decor, are in the historic section of the hotel. Superior and Deluxe Rooms are in the modern section. All rooms, regardless of what wing they're in, have such modern amenities as flat-screen TVs, safes, and minibars, and have either street or skyline views. Classic Rooms -- singles -- are small but well-equipped. Superior and Deluxe Rooms have sitting areas with rotating flat-screen TVs. Suites have living rooms with chandeliers and illy espresso machines. The modern marbled bathrooms provide bathrobes, hairdryers, shower/tub combos, toiletries, and bidets in some.
