Interiors feature high ceilings and period touches for a classically elegant design. The 36 attractive rooms have flat-screen TVs, hairdryers, free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning, but they lack kettles and fridges. A charming restaurant serves traditional French dishes with regional influences, as well as a buffet breakfast with hot and cold fare for a fee. Two meeting rooms are available, and a large covered parking lot provides secure vehicle storage, but it requires advance booking. Abbaye de Maizieres has more historic charm, but it lacks an elevator.
Scene
Elegant hotel with lovely outdoor courtyard near Beaune's center
Conveniently located on a ring road encircling Beaune, this 19th-century former post house is all about traditional elegance. Green-painted shutters on its carved white exterior set a classy tone from the get-go, which continues into the lobby outfitted with black-and-white-checkered floors, gilded touches around red sofas, and a few antique furnishings. This bold style continues into the adjacent bar, featuring parquet wood floors, wood paneling, red walls with candle sconces, and a black piano. Next to this is a billiards room with rich red fabrics, portraits of dogs in formal wear, and a fireplace. Generally, these areas are rarely used and quiet. The French restaurant is more subdued in style but still sophisticated, with white-clothed tables, period chairs, and lilac walls and cushions. An outdoor courtyard with patio furniture makes for popular al fresco dining in warmer months. The romantic-feeling rooms and boutique atmosphere primarily attract couples.
Location
Excellent setting on Beaune's ring road, close to historic sights and restaurants
Set on a ring road encircling Beaune, this hotel has an excellent location that's well-connected to sights and nearby wine spots. Beaune's main Carnot square is a six-minute walk, and shopping on the nearby Alsace and Carnot streets is great for souvenirs, local food, and of course, the region's famous wines. The Burgundy Wine Museum is a five-minute walk and it's twice that for the famous Patriarche wine cellars. Former almshouse Hospices de Beaune is a six-minute walk, as is Notre Dame Basilica. The Fallot Mustard museum is just a two-minute walk. Beaune train station is a five-minute drive (or 20-minute walk). Ample wineries can be explored within a five- to 20-minute drive. The nearest Dole Jura Airport is a 45-minute drive.
Rooms
Romantic rooms with flat-screen TVs and AC, but no fridges
Decor varies between rooms, but they all have an elegant, romantic feel thanks to period-style furnishings and chandeliers. Entry-level Charming Rooms are compact at 14 to 19 square meters (151 to 205 square feet), while Suites start at 30 square meters (323 square feet). While some rooms have subdued neutral palettes, some have bold designs with red patterned bedspreads and wallpaper that may be too fussy for some. Also note that top-floor rooms have slanted ceiling beams and are only reached by stairs. One Suite has a lovely private terrace. Standard amenities consist of desks with chairs, flat-screen TVs, phones, air-conditioning, and safes, but no kettles or fridges are provided. Upgraded units add seating areas. Lower-category rooms have modern but compact bathrooms with small showers or shower/tub combos, while some higher-category rooms come with both showers and separate tubs, in addition to robes and slippers. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided.
