Landmark Seattle hotel with Old World feel and famous Fireside Room
Set in
the genteel First Hill neighborhood, the hotel has long been a cultural and social
gathering spot for the city's elite, President William Taft was once
a guest, who flocked to the 1909 Italian Renaissance-style building inspired by the Hotel Vittoria in Sorrento, Italy. The sumptuous interiors are filled with Honduras mahogany and also feature oak floors, leather wingback chairs,
Art Deco lamps, patterned Turkish kilim pillows, Moroccan tiles, and Oriental rugs. In
2015, the hotel refreshed the public spaces, replaced its venerable Hunt Club restaurant with a modern bistro, Dunbar Room, and added a garden courtyard. The hotel's famous Fireside Room, an elegant
lounge with grand piano, fireplace, and live music draws locals and hotel guests, including couples and business travelers who appreciate the hotel's old world charms and subtle hipster aesthetics, like the edgy line drawings in the hallways.
