Hidden Dunes Beach & Tennis Resort

Hidden Dunes is a large resort complex spread over 27 acres, giving guests numerous places to relax and enjoy the quiet seaside setting. The landscaping is well maintained and thoughtful, with lots of tree shade and a linear fountain. There’s a small deck that overlooks the lake next to the area where the villas are located. The tower, villa, and cottage areas each have their own pools and whirlpools, so there is no central pool that serves as a hub of activity. It’s generally more peaceful than many resort beaches, and a perfect place for a lazy day on the beach.

The resort complex is located along Highway 98 at Miramar Beach east of Destin. It's surrounded by other condo complexes, hotels, and residential units. A few restaurants, shops, and a pharmacy are within a three- to five-minute walk, but dozens more are only a couple of minutes away by car. Many attractions are within easy reach along Highway 98, which connects directly to Destin and Panama City Beach. - Three-minute drive to Silver Springs Premium Outlets

The 80 units that make up this resort’s room inventory are individually owned. As such, their decor varies widely. Expect to see a generally casual, quintessentially oceanside look, with liberal use of earth tones or bright pastel colors such as aqua blue or yellow with white accents. Tropical touches such as wicker furniture and nautical artwork are frequent, too. Most units are well maintained and often have upscale touches such as granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances, and glass-enclosed, walk-in showers. But with individual owners comes inevitable variation, and past guests have reported that some units are in need of updates. Complaints have pointed to outdated decor; uncomfortable, worn-out furniture and mattresses; and shoddy housekeeping.Units are spacious and separated into cottages, villas, and a 20-story tower with condos. All have washers/dryers and full kitchens with full-size fridges, and many include more than one flat-screen TV and at least one sleeper sofa. The lakeside Villas have three or four bedrooms and multiple bathrooms, as well as screened porches. One- and two-bedroom Cottages also have screened porches, while the Condominiums in the tower have covered balconies, many of which offer great views of the ocean. 

The Hidden Dunes Beach's highlight is its location, facing a lovely private beach, a broad stretch of unspoiled white sand. The resort provides each rental unit with a free umbrella and two chairs to use at its beach, but additional umbrella/chair rentals cost extra. The other highlight is the resort's tennis facilities. Six clay courts and a pro shop make up the top-notch tennis complex, and lessons are available for a fee. Three pools and whirlpools are located throughout the resort, and there's also a basketball court with lighting for nighttime games, plus guests can roam the grounds' well-lit trails. Gas grills are available for guest use on a landscaped lawn area, and there are scheduled children’s activities and babysitting available. The resort operates a free shuttle service to help guests get around the complex, which is useful for those staying in cottages, which are otherwise around a five-minute walk to the beach. On-site parking is free, and guests in the villas and tower have access to covered parking. Be aware that the on-site fitness center is reserved for owners only. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
