Scene

A genteel and unfussy historic Victorian mansion with plenty of modern comforts

Old Town Manor is a genteel, but not fussy,
bed-and-breakfast with lots of character and plenty of history. Built in 1886,
the Victorian mansion has a storied past -- it's home to the largest cistern in the Keys, for instance. The owners have
maintained original woodwork and period touches, including
the impressive cypress front doors, while adding gorgeous antiques in
the common areas and rooms. The interiors are beautifully painted in
rich colors, with antique wood floors, exposed brick, restored
fireplaces, and hospitable touches such as fresh fruit-infused water, wood rockers on the upstairs gallery, and tourist brochures that manage not to
look tacky. The gardens were planted a century ago, and the lush
greenery and enormous old palm trees add to the romantic, Southern tropical vibe. Breakfast is served on wrought-iron garden tables, and guests relax and
socialize in the courtyard throughout the day and evening. The property tends to draw a mix of couples and friends, as the easygoing gardens and delicious breakfast are ideal after forays into the Duval Street
nightlife scene.

Location

On a picturesque street next to Duval, with its shops, restaurants, and fabled nightlife

The Old Town sits on a picturesque, palm-lined street that has a small town feel, though parking can be an issue. That said, it's an ideal location in the center of Key West and right next to Duval Street, with its restaurants, shops,
and legendary nightlife. Key West’s most famous bar, Sloppy Joe’s, is two
blocks from the hotel, and the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum is a half-mile walk from the front gate. The beach at Southernmost Point is
a mile from the hotel, and all the major island sights -- like Mallory Square and Schooner Wharf -- are within about a half-mile to a mile.

Rooms

Individually decorated rooms with beautiful period details and fine antique furniture

Every room at the Old Town Manor is
individually decorated and uniquely laid out. All are spotless and air-conditioned, with wood floors and antique furnishings, brightly colored paint to showcase the building's stunning architecture, and fun touches. The Saratoga Room, for instance, is charmingly eclectic yet tasteful, with lime green walls, orange Victorian-pattern wall panels, and woven door coverings. Some rooms have four-poster beds, while others have separate
entrances, private balconies, or patios. Bathrooms are spacious and modern, with
pretty tubs and/or walk-in shower stalls, and plenty of free toiletries. Each room has a flat-screen TV with DVD player, and most have mini-fridges and coffeemakers; there is a DVD lending library in the lobby. Due to Duval Street’s proximity,
there may be some noise at night from wandering revelers.

Features

Beautiful continental breakfast spread, rental bikes, and superior amenities for canine companions

Breakfast at the Old Town Manor is served in the gorgeous brick and palm courtyard, and includes locally made pastries, organic fruit, free-range eggs, and more. Vegan and gluten-free
guests will find plenty to suit their needs. There are DVDs and books to borrow
in the lobby, and funky cruiser bikes can be rented at the front desk. Dogs are
enthusiastically welcomed with dog beds, canine welcome packages, and
resident playmates in the form of staff dogs. There is nearby parking for a
surcharge, and electric car charging facilities are available.
