The Hotel Regency is a 35-room luxury boutique with an unpretentious, friendly atmosphere. Elements such as ornate wallpaper, dramatic drapes, and tray ceilings give the rooms old-world charm, but decor varies, and most rooms are in need of updating. The exterior of the hotel looks like a stately residence, and has decorative ironwork. Inside, comfortable couches and rich colors dominate the decor, and there is a lovely private garden where guests can dine. Extras include free Wi-Fi, a free breakfast buffet, free minibar soft drinks, and 24-hour concierge service, but the hotel's location is a bit far from Florence's major sights.

Location

A bit removed from Florence's main attractions

The Hotel Regency is located in historic Florence, but is a bit farther away from the main attractions than other hotels. Many guests report that this location makes for a quieter stay, while others complain that the area's narrow streets make it difficult to navigate.

Florence is extremely pedestrian-friendly, and is one of Italy's most beautiful cities -- it's more compact, and less gritty, than Rome. The Duomo is the most iconic sight here, but other popular attractions include Michelangelo's "David" at the Galleria dell'Accademia, the works of Botticelli and da Vinci at the Uffizi, and the Ponte Vecchio bridge, which dates back to the 1300s. The Piazza della Signora is a popular tourist hub, and many hotels are located near it.
