In the 500-year-old Palazzo della Gherardesca, the 116-room Four Seasons is one of Florence’s most luxurious hotels, combining Renaissance-era opulence with signature Four Seasons service. Guests get exclusive access to the 11-acre Giardino della Gherardesca, one of the city’s largest private gardens, along with three restaurants, an outdoor pool, and a spa. Rooms and suites range from large and comfortable to huge and palatial. A former convent across the park has 36 guest rooms that provide a more private stay. It’s definitely a splurge, and the best that Florence has to offer for those who aren't worried about price.
Scene
Elegant, art-filled luxury hotel
The Four Seasons Hotel's sumptuous decor fits its location in a historic palace. Rooms are filled with centuries-old paintings, statues, and bas reliefs, mixed with some modern and contemporary art. The atmosphere is formal, but the bright colors, flower arrangements, and natural light streaming in from the glass roof in the lobby make it feel bright and relaxing. Many of the rooms overlook the garden, which provide a peaceful break from the bustle of the city. The business center is filled with frescoes and furniture in more striking greens and blues to match the artwork, while the spa is less ancient and more modern looking, decorated in white, gold and light floral patterns.
Location
In a quiet area outside of the city center, near a park
The hotel is located in Borgo Pinti, an elegant neighborhood removed from the city center, but it’s an easy 15-minute walk to the Duomo and the rest of the city’s main attractions. The hotel is surrounded by its 11-acre park, the Giardino della Gherardesca, which provides a separate escape.
Rooms
Comfortable and luxurious, with modern amenities; some with frescoes
The 77 guest rooms and 44 suites at the Four Seasons Hotel Florence are all individually decorated in an old-world, elegant style and filled with fine fabrics, thick carpeting, antique furniture, chandeliers, and plenty of artwork. There are lovely views of the park. Many of the suites have frescoes, friezes, and hand-painted sculptures. The massive Royal Suite is filled with fabric and artwork in purples and golds. Large marble bathrooms have soaking tubs and separate stall showers. The minibars include fine Tuscan wines, and there are flat-screen TVs along with CD and DVD players.
Features
Three restaurants, outdoor pool, and world-class spa

The Atrium Bar serves Italian fare, as well as cocktails and afternoon tea. The gym, steam room, and sauna, are free for guests and the elegant spa offers a number of treatments, including a Chianti Wine Massage.
