Within a five-minute drive
of the airport, this upscale hotel isn't in walking distance to any of the main attractions in Florence and requires a 35-minute bus ride to reach the Duomo and San Lorenzo market. On the upside, there's free parking, free Wi-Fi, and a free breakfast with hot options in addition to the
standard cold cuts, cheeses, and fruit. There’s no restaurant
on-site, but there is a clubby bar. But given its remote location, it's best for guests with early-morning airport departures or business travelers. Others may want to consider more centrally properties, like the mid-range Botticelli Hotel.
Scene
A modern, contemporary hotel that attracts business travelers
Housed in a modern building with marble features and tall, arched windows, the Cosmopolitan
Concept Hotel is firmly contemporary. Shrubs and topiaries flank the revolving glass door that opens onto a small, bright lobby, a fun mix of shag rugs, orange and cream swivel chairs, and marble floors. Near the front desk is a petite lobby bar with red LED
lights and a drum shade chandeliers that hang over a clusters of gray armchairs. Gleaming elevators carry guests to the higher floors. Overall, this sleek and stylish property is a nice alternative to the sometimes crumbling central hotels of Florence, but the location draws mostly business travelers or leisure travelers with a car that make use of the free and convenient parking.
Location
Near the airport, but not within walking distance to the main attractions
The Cosmopolitan Concept Hotel is on a busy, multi-lane
road within a five-minute drive from the airport. The area isn't great for strolling, but there are a handful of
restaurants that are walking distance, including a sandwich shop, pizza place, and
sushi restaurant. The Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, Academy of Fine
Art, and San Lorenzo market must all be reached via a 35-minute bus ride. Or guest with cars can drive and make use of the free parking.
Rooms
Rooms with minimal but attractive decor and modern furnishings
Guest rooms have sleek, modern
decor including dark hardwood floors; white leather headboards; and rectangular, glass nightstands. Pillow-top mattresses and goose-feather pillows make the beds extra cozy. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Standard
bathrooms are equipped with compact showers, hairdryers, heated towel racks, and
generous amenity kits with Malin+Goetz toiletries. Superior Rooms include extras like coffee/tea facilities, bathrobes, and shower/tub combos. Guests complain that the see-through bathroom doors don’t allow
for much privacy. And they recommend rooms in the back of the hotel to avoid street noise.
Features
Free breakfast buffet, swanky lobby bar, and free parking
There aren't a lot of amenities to speak of at the Cosmopolitan Concept Hotel, but the free breakfast including eggs,
bacon, fresh fruit, cheeses, pastries, and cold cuts is a bonus as it offers a wider range of options than most. And the playful, clubby lobby bar gives guests a spot to sip wine and liquor. Two meeting
rooms are available for business travelers, and a few parking spaces are also available for free. Airport and railway station transfers can be arranged for
a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
