B&B La Dimora degli Angeli

B&B La Dimora degli Angeli has been welcoming guests since 2010. The small inn occupies two buildings near the Duomo. Locating the reception desk is a bit confusing as there’s only a small plaque on the exterior of the building and guests must take a metal cage elevator up a few floors to reach the front desk. Interiors are classic and modern with a hint of romance. Common areas like hallways and the lobby are cramped, though still lovely, with wooden floors, colorful or gray walls, chic carpets and furniture, and charming details like fresh flowers. There are several tea rooms where free tea, coffee, and snacks are available. One of these charming common rooms has floral print wallpaper and a communal table, while another sports an elegant Victorian style with soft pink walls, white furniture with red tablecloths, and small framed art pieces on the walls. With a policy that only allows children who are 7 years of age or older to stay, the clientele mostly leans toward couples on a romantic getaway that are attracted by the property's superb location and elegant rooms. 

This inn is in the heart of Florence, just around the corner from the iconic Duomo. It's a lively area with lots of shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. It’s a minutes’ walk to the nearest bus stop, though most top attractions are within walking distance, like the Piazza della Repubblica (two-minute walk), the Ponte Vecchio (seven-minute walk), Palazzo Vecchio (seven-minute walk), Uffizi Gallery (eight-minute walk), Galleria dell'Accademia (eight-minute walk), and the Basilica di Santa Croce (11-minute walk). Florence's Santa Maria Novella train station is an eight-minute walk away, while Peretola Airport can be reached in about 20 minutes by car or a half-hour by public transportation.  

There are 12 rooms at B&B La Dimora degli Angeli and all feature elegant decor, though no two are the same. Some rooms have a classic style, while others feature a sleeker, artistic ambiance or a romantic vibe. Many have wooden floors, accent walls in a graphic print, tall wooden or tufted headboards, and cream-colored bedding. Details like medallion-backed chairs or glass-and-chrome desks add a level of elegance. Rooms aren't spacious, though they're fair sized for European standards. Most offer partial views of the Duomo, though a few face a small and unattractive courtyard. All are equipped with air-conditioning, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi, though no coffee- and tea-making facilities. Like the rooms, the bathrooms differ, but are clean and come equipped with vessel sinks, Oliva toiletries, small showers, and wall-attached hairdryers that are a bit dated. Most are equipped with bidets. Note that towels and sheets are changed every few days, not daily. 

This modest inn offers few on-site features. Though a breakfast voucher can be included in room rates, it’s not served at the property, but provided at a nearby cafe with a somewhat late serving time, which can be bothersome for early risers or those with booked tours in the early morning. The inn has a couple of tea rooms where free tea, coffee, biscotti, and other snacks like fruit or cookies are available 24/7. There’s a few small common areas with community tables to enjoy a cup of tea. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Parking can be found a few blocks away.
