The Hexagon International Hotel, Villas & Spa is a three-pearl property about 10 minutes from Nadi International Airport. We wouldn’t recommend spending your entire vacation here, but it’s an ideal choice for a quick stopover in Nadi. The 146 rooms are spread across the surprisingly large property, and many overlook one of the hotel’s three outdoor pools. There are multiple room types, ranging from tiny Standard Rooms to spacious Two-Bedroom Apartments with full kitchens. There's a decent restaurant and a fun bar, but unfortunately breakfast isn’t free. Decor throughout is a tad dated, and guests have to purchase pre-paid Wi-Fi cards if they want to access the internet. Travelers looking for a budget-friendly place with more of a resort-like atmosphere might prefer Club Fiji Resort, but it’s farther from the airport.
Scene
A busy airport hotel with a quiet atmosphere
Like many of the airport hotels that line Queens Road, the Hexagon International Hotel, Villas & Spa has a small lobby with a bustling atmosphere. People are always checking in and out, and the hotel’s free airport shuttles are constantly circling the driveway. But past the open-air lobby, the hotel’s grounds sprawl in multiple directions, and the atmosphere becomes quiet. We’re not sure if we’d want to spend our entire Fiji vacation here, but it’s not a bad option for those who need to crash in Nadi for a night of two. With three pools, a decent on-site restaurant, a cute bar that overlooks the main pool, and even a small spa, the Hexagon International tries to anticipate everything travelers might need during their short stay.
Location
On Queens Road, about 10-minutes from Nadi International Airport
The Hexagon International Hotel is located on Queens Road, a bustling thoroughfare about 10 minutes from Nadi International Airport. The hotel is within walking distance of numerous restaurants, local shops, and a major supermarket. Wailoaloa Beach, a local beach that’s popular with international backpackers, is about a five-minute drive from the hotel.
Rooms
A touch dated, but some units have kitchens and laundry machines
Rooms at the Hexagon are dated, but let’s face it, none of the airport hotels in Nadi are winning design awards any time soon. Standard Rooms are tiny, with one double bed wedged in the corner and an itty-bitty bathroom barely big enough for one person. Standard Rooms are equipped with air conditioners, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and electric kettles. Deluxe Rooms aren’t much bigger than their standard counterparts. Decor is slightly nicer and more modern, but if you’re really trying to save money, we wouldn’t recommend the upgrade. Deluxe Poolside Rooms -- you guessed it -- overlook one of the the hotel’s three pools.
One thing that sets the Hexagon apart from its competitors is its one- and two-bedroom apartment-style units. Many of the nearby airport hotels have one or two apartment units, but the Hexagon has a whole three-story building dedicated to apartments -- and they’re quite spacious. Apartments have either one- or two-bedrooms, along with large living and dining areas, and fully-equipped kitchens. They also have individual washer and dryer units. All of the apartments overlook the building’s beautiful courtyard and pool.
Features
A lot of nice features for an airport hotel, but breakfast and Wi-Fi aren't free
For an airport hotel, the Hexagon has a surprising number of nice amenities. The hotel has three outdoor pools, a bar and restaurant, a small spa, and a large function space that can be used for meetings or events. Unfortunately, the hotel does not have free Wi-Fi. Guests must purchase pre-paid Wi-Fi cards at the front desk. Once connected, the internet works well across the property.
The hotel’s three pools are among the nicest we’ve seen around the Nadi airport hotels. They’re clean and spotlessly kept, and all of them remain quiet throughout the day. The hotel’s main pool is located in its central courtyard, behind the open-air bar and restaurant. The pool is a long C-shape that receives direct sunlight all afternoon. There are a few lounge chairs and picnic tables set up around the pool, but the area could definitely benefit from some umbrellas. The smaller 500 block pool is located next to the hotel’s meeting and event space. It’s surrounded by hanging bougainvillea and tropical plants, and is almost always empty. The final pool belongs to the hotel’s apartment building, though all guests are welcome to use it. The apartment pool (known as the 600 block pool), is the newest of the three and has a cool water feature, and even a separate shallow area for kids.
Red Chillies, the on-site restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual, open-air setting. The food is pretty decent, but it should be noted that breakfast is not free for guests. All meals are served a la carte, and there’s a daily list of blackboard specials for lunch and dinner. Adjacent to the restaurant is the colorful bar. The bar is decorated with brightly colored panels and palm fronds, giving it a relaxed island feel. During our visit, the bar was decked out with Fijian flags to celebrate Fiji Day (independence day), and the bartender prepared special Fiji Day cocktails.
For business travelers, there's a large conference room/function space that has modern audiovisual equipment. The conference room can be set up for meetings, private events, or other business related matters. Additionally, there’s a small business center with a few computers that guests can use for free next to the lobby.
The Hexagon also has a small spa, where guests can book massages, facials, and nail treatments. The spa utilizes popular Pure Fiji products, which are found at elite spas and hotels across Fiji. The spa itself isn’t overly decadent or luxurious, but it does the trick for post-flight massages or a quick pedicure.
