Named after the castle dating back to 1177 that once stood on the same site, the Faithlegg House Hotel and Golf Resort is housed in a grand 18th-century country mansion originally built in 1783. Overlooking the estuary of the River Suir, the property is set in 200 acres of grounds and parkland, most of which make up the surrounding golf course. The reception area sets the tone of traditional grandeur, with marble columns, gilded mirrors, and a centerpiece crystal chandelier. Historical art and furnishings are scattered throughout the original building, blending into more up-to-date decor in the 1998 extension. The resort is obviously geared heavily towards golfers, while also providing plenty to do for families and golf widows.

It’s surrounded by the rolling Irish countryside and close to the coast -- the scenic fishing of Dunmore East is located 15 minutes away by car. The nearest train station to the hotel is Plunkett Station, also about a 15-minute drive, while Rosslare Harbor is 53 miles away and has ferries to and from Wales.

Outdoor tennis courts are also free to guests and there is a playground for kids.
