InterContinental Estoril

InterContinental Estoril occupies a modern glass and steel building that opened in 2015. Inside, there’s a trendy atmosphere and a decor that’s elegant and stylish with a mostly blue and tan color scheme. The lobby is spacious with glossy tan floors, blue contemporary furniture, and ceilings with fluorescent lighting and curved lines covered in dangling circular shapes. The restaurant has a similar look with dark wooden floors, cream or gray seating, blue accents, and ceilings with woven ship rope or hanging fish cutout chandeliers. The hotel draws mostly couples looking for an upscale stay and phenomenal ocean views from rooms and public spaces. 

The Intercontinental has a prime address right on the oceanfront of Estoril. However, with that said, the hotel is separated from the beach and water by the train tracks so it’s about a five-minute walk to a beach. Surrounding the hotel are a handful of restaurants and bars, while Casino Estoril is a 14-minute walk away. It takes 24 minutes on foot to reach the city center of Cascais. For travelers who want to take the one-hour train to Lisbon, the train station is just outside the hotel’s door. It’s a 20-minute drive to the Lisbon Portela Airport. 

Rooms at the InterContinental Estoril are spacious and contemporary with a simple decor and a predominantly gray color scheme. The plush white beds are accented by shiny gray pillows, a navy headboard, charcoal and purple striped bed runner, and light blue pillows. Rooms are stocked with decent amenities like sitting areas, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free minibars, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and balconies with ocean views. Bathrooms are clean and upscale with rainfall showers and suites come with whirlpool tubs. Free toiletries, shaving and dental kits, and hairdryers are available. Bothersome noise has been reported by some, though surprisingly it doesn’t come from the daily electric train (which is fairly quiet). Rather, guests are annoyed by thin walls and noises from neighbors. Evening turndown service is a nice touch. 

Facilities at the InterContinental Estoril center around ocean views. There’s the trendy outdoor pool surrounded by grassy areas and loungers on decks. It looks out over the ocean, a view that's only marred when a quiet electric train passes by. The spa has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, beauty treatments, massages, and a hair stylist. The hotel’s gym is well-equipped with modern weight and cardio equipment. Travelers can enjoy a hot and cold breakfast buffet daily in the breakfast room or on the outdoor patio. It can be included in rates as half-board or breakfast only. The Atlantico Bar & Restaurant offers Portuguese and seafood cuisine for lunch and dinner with sea views to match. There’s also the lobby lounge that has snacks and drinks throughout the day. Business features are limited with a public computer and one meeting room that holds up to 60 people. Wi-Fi is free and parking on-site incurs a daily charge.
