Scene

A forest lodge in Estes Park with nature abounding

Tucked behind the pine forests
in Estes Park is Streamside on Fall River, a quaint lodge with cabins that
appeal to budget-minded couples and families. The traditionally furnished, bright office looks like a cozy cabin with a patio and large windows
overlooking the beautiful forest landscape. The setting is ideal for those who
want to watch the elk and deer or feed the chipmunks that scamper around the
grounds.

Location

On the banks of Fall River in Estes Park

Streamside on Fall River, as the name
implies, is directly on the Fall River and on the fringes of Estes Park. The
forest location feels isolated but is close to the busy Fall River Road, which
leads to the downtown area where there are supermarkets, restaurants, shops,
and bars. Rocky Mountain National Park is 23 minutes west by car. The closest
restaurant, Nicky's Steakhouse, is just two minutes away by foot. Kirk’s Flyshop
is a four-minute drive east and offers guided fishing tours. The Riverpointe
Spa and historic Stanley Hotel, with its ghost tours, are both a five-minute drive east as well. Getting to Denver International Airport,
southeast, requires a 90-minute drive.

Rooms

Variety of cabins feature kitchens, flat-screen TVs, fireplaces, and riverfront patios with hot tubs

Guests
can choose from 21 cabins in Studio, One-Bedroom, Two-Bedroom, and Condo categories. Spaces come with daily housekeeping, robes, sofabeds, living rooms, log fireplaces, DVD/CD players, flat-screen TVs, kitchens
or kitchenettes, and patios with grills. Views of the Fall River, forest, or
Aspen mountains are another welcome feature and condominiums have one-and-a-half bedrooms. Six cabins also have private hottubs. The Bear's Den is a small top-floor room that offers a kitchenette and
air-conditioning, with most spaces not having the latter feature. Interior
decor is traditional with wood furniture, quilted bedspreads, and carpeting. But cabins generally lack the special woodsy designs found elsewhere and some features, like tube-style
TVs, are outdated.

Features

Family-friendly outdoor activities, a laundry room, and a sizable meeting space

A group suite -- which includes
a kitchenette, living room, and views of the forest -- is available for family
reunions or meetings of up to 25 people. There’s also a deck with a gas grill
and patio furniture. The meeting space comes with a TV, DVD player, coffee, tea,
and water. Catering is available if needed and audiovisual equipment can be
requested. Hammocks and two outdoor hot
tubs can be found on the property as well. The area deck features a log fireplace with plastic patio chairs. The
property also provides laundry facilities and hosts lawn activities like horseshoe
games and basketball.
