Set on 27 wooded acres in Estes Park, on the banks of the picturesque Big Thompson River, the 10-room Romantic RiverSong Bed and Breakfast Inn is a boutique romantic hideaway for couples. In addition to each of the individually decorated rooms and cottages, the inn has plenty of distinctive touches, like an extensive homemade breakfast daily, thoughtful picnics prepared by the chef, and an oversized lawn chessboard, popular with local elk. Some rooms and cottages have fireplaces and patios overlooking the river. Guests complain, however, that rooms do not offer TVs or air-conditioning; if that’s a problem, try the Rams Horn Village Resort, which offers flat-screen TVs.
Scene
A romantic forest retreat, bursting with rustic-luxury charm
With its 27 picturesquely wooded acres, craftsman main house, individually designed cottages with stunning Rocky Mountain views, free gourmet breakfasts, and romantic atmosphere, it’s easy to see why the Romantic RiverSong Bed and Breakfast Inn was featured in the “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” travel book. The owners' own romantic story has been perpetuated by the many couples who marry and honeymoon here, attracted by the personalized experience -- beginning at check-in with fresh cookies -- and charming interior decor. The main office -- a green and yellow cottage accessed via a stone walkway -- welcomes guests with framed photographs, a stone fireplace, a chessboard, plush leather sofas, a library, and a wooden staircase. There are patio chairs and lounge chairs on a brick terrace, where elk often wander by. Wooden lounge chairs are also positioned along the Big Thompson River.
