Airport transfers, breakfast, and drinks during the manager's
reception every evening are included in room rates, and there are many extra features, such as a swimming pool, a 24-hour business

Scene
Large all-suites airport hotel with a grand inner atrium
The Embassy
Suites by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles International Airport South
occupies an imposing four-story building that takes up a large part
of a city block. The hotel entrance is through an arched portico, and
once inside, guests arrive in the huge rectangular-shaped atrium with
a high glass ceiling resembling a train station. The decor is
grand and a bit overdone, with red marble floors, lanterns,
planters filled with tropical plants -- and even a palm tree, water
fountains, and a koi pond filled with not only fish, but also ducks
and turtles. Most of the guests staying here are families catching
early-morning flights from Los Angeles Airport, but the hotel is also
popular with business travelers.
Location
A six-minute drive from Los Angeles Airport
Located in the El Segundo area of the city, Embassy
Suites by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles International Airport South is a six-minute drive from the airport. The immediate area surrounding the hotel resembles a
business park and doesn't have much to offer to visitors or those
who like to take a stroll around the neighborhood. It's a minimum 14-minute
drive to Manhattan Beach, 17-minute
drive to Hermosa Beach, 19-minute
drive to the beaches of Marina Del Rey, and 27-minute
drive to Venice Beach. Getting to UCLA takes about half an hour, while it's closer to 40 minutes to reach Hollywood, although drive times can vary greatly depending on traffic.
Rooms
Two-room suites with warm, businesslike chain decor
All
the guest rooms at this property are made up of two-room suites that
include a bedroom with one king-size bed or two double beds and a
separate living area. The color scheme is made up of a palette of
complementing beiges, browns, yellows, and grays, giving the rooms a warm but still professional feel. The pale-yellow walls contrast with the brown
patterned carpets and brown upholstered furniture. Tasteful black-and-white photographic prints hang on the walls, while many table
lamps provide mood lighting. The living areas have a large sofas,
armchairs, work desks with ergonomic chairs; Premium Rooms have kitchenettes with microwaves, mini-fridges, sinks,
and coffeemakers. There are flat-screen TVs in both the bedrooms and the living rooms, and Premium Rooms also have Bluetooth docks. Wi-Fi is only free in Premium Suites and for members of the Hilton HHonors rewards program (though it's easy enough to sign up for the free program before booking a stay). Some rooms also have views of LAX runways, making them a good choice for plane-spotting enthusiasts. The bathrooms tend to be
cramped and have low ceilings, and are fitted with shower/tub combos,
granite counters, and large mirrors. Giovanni toiletries are provided. Past guests have complained of worn
furniture and wear and tear in some of the bathrooms, including mold and
mildew in the showers and broken showerheads. There have also been complaints of the rooms being too hot or cold due to
the lack of individual in-room heat and air-conditioning.
Features
Free breakfast, free evening reception, indoor pool, business center, and lots of function space
The hotel offers plenty of freebies, including a cooked-to-order breakfast and a daily evening

1440 Bistro & Bar restaurant serves classic American cuisine
throughout the day and offers room service, but is pricey and has a limited menu.
The indoor pool is in a pleasant light-filled space, and the small
fitness center is equipped with the usual weights, treadmills, and
endurance machines. The 24-hour BusinessLink business center
offers the use of computers, a printer, and has Wi-Fi access. In-room Wi-Fi is only free in Premium Rooms and for Hilton HHonors members, but the membership program is free to join for any guest. The
hotel also offers plenty of flexible function space that can be used for meetings, banquets, and weddings. Other services include free airport transfers, expensive on-site parking, a gift shop, a luggage room, and a coin-operated laundry room.
