Bottom Line

This four-pearl, 364-room luxury resort is situated on beautiful stretch of Rea Sea coastline. It's popular with couples, thanks to its secluded location and adult-only policy. Spacious rooms are appointed with modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and minibars, and all include furnished balconies, some with lovely sea views. The hotel has plenty of facilities, including a private beach, diving center, four swimming pools, two restaurants, three bars, an entertainment amphitheater, plus a full-service spa and fitness center. Scene

Quiet, adult-only resort with handsome classic interiors and a relaxed vibe

This sprawling beachfront resort combines beautiful, natural surroundings with traditional Nubian style. It's a big and elegant place, that manages to impart an away-from-it-all vibe to those who find themselves here for a few nights. From the outside, the hotel looks like a Moroccan riad, with mosaic tiling, glossy marble floors, and oversized antique vases decorating the entrance. This theme follows through into the grand lobby, with towering archways, dark wood furniture, opulent candelabras, and African-inspired artwork adorning the walls. The restaurants and public spaces follow suit, with an exotic red-and-gold color scheme throughout. Tropical palm trees and neatly sculptured shrubbery line the pretty landscaped gardens, while cozy cabanas and sun loungers surround the main pool. The adult-only policy ensures a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, and the hotel's romantic setting attracts a lot of couples and honeymooners. Most guests are more mature, and many of them return year after year.

Location

Secluded location on the Coraya Bay beachfront

The hotel is located on the pristine sands of Coraya Bay, on a stretch of Red Sea coastline near the Tropic of Cancer. The sprawling resort is situated on a long road with neighboring hotels, surrounded by vast desert expanses. There's not much activity in the immediate area, so guests will have to go farther afield for an excursion. Many guests head to Port Ghalib, a tree-lined marina filled with chic restaurants and upmarket shops. It's a 10-minute drive away, and the hotel operates a free shuttle service there twice a week. The most southern of Egypt's resort areas, the surrounding ocean is home to a rich coral reef. Guests can spot dolphins and sea turtles here, so it's worth exploring with snorkeling or diving gear. The hotel is close to Marsa Alam International Airport, which is 10 minutes away by car.

Rooms

Attractive rooms and suites with furnished balconies -- some with sea views

The hotel's 364 rooms range from Superior and Deluxe Rooms to spacious suites for larger groups. Decor blends neutral tones with Nubian elements, such as patterned furnishings, dark wood furniture, and Moroccan-themed artwork on the walls. Every room comes with a furnished balcony or terrace, looking out to lovely pool or sea views. Modern amenities include flat-screen satellite TVs, air-conditioning, well-stocked minibars, tea/coffee facilities, phones, laptop-compatible safes, free robes and slippers, and free Wi-Fi. A fruit basket and bottle of wine on arrival is a thoughtful extra touch. Keep in mind that minibars aren't included in the all-inclusive rates. Spacious bathrooms are finished with neutral tiles and marble countertops, and all include walk-in showers, big mirrors, and free toiletries.

Features

Four swimming pools, two restaurants, full-service spa, plus a private beach with diving center

The main attraction at this hotel is its beach, a long private stretch of sand overlooking Coraya Bay and its rich coral reef. There are dozens of sun loungers, umbrellas, and cozy cabanas, as well as volleyball nets and a diving center. Guests can also hire snorkelling equipment here. On dry land there are a variety of recreational activities, such as tennis, squash, cooking lessons, and football, plus a small fitness center with free weights and cardio equipment. There's also an amphitheater providing evening entertainment throughout the week. The hotel has four swimming pools, the largest of which includes a swim-up bar. The full-service spa has a pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub, and several rooms for massage and beauty treatments. There are two excellent restaurants serving Italian and Asian cuisines, with al fresco dining options. Reservations are required. A themed buffet dinner is served daily in the main restaurant, along with a free breakfast buffet with local and international dishes. The hotel offers both half-board and all-inclusive rates, though some previous guests have found the all-inclusive program here to be a bit restrictive. There are three chic bars for unwinding, one of which includes two billiards tables. Additionally, a cozy cafe serves North African tea and shisha. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, room service, concierge, free laundry, free access to the waterpark next door, and a free shuttle service to twice a week to Port Ghalib. Keep in mind that some of these freebies are only available to all-inclusive guests. Parking is free on-site, and airport transfers can be arranged for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
