Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket

The Premier Inn has an energetic vibe, given its location near the International Conference Centre and Haymarket Station. It draws a mix of business and leisure travelers, who congregate in the lobby and in the colorful restaurant, which has striking aquamarine walls and lampshades, and violet-colored soft chairs. The bar has a big-screen TV with live sports. Rooms have basic wood furniture with violet accents, along with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. The staff is friendly and helpful, and eager to offer dining and sightseeing recommendations. 

Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre–Haymarket is in the Haymarket section of the fashionable West End. To the northeast is an elegant residential neighborhood, and to the west is a funky area with numerous ethnic restaurants and local pubs. Haymarket Station is conveniently located within a five-minute walk west of the hotel. At the station guests can catch the T50 tram, numerous trains and buses, including several that go east to Old Town and tourist attractions. Edinburgh International Conference Centre is a three-minute walk east, and the Usher Hall concert venue is a 10-minute walk in the same direction. One of Edinburgh's best walking areas, the scenic and charming Dean Village is a 15-minute walk north. The western end of Princes Street is a 10-minute walk northeast. The city's major attractions – Edinburgh Castle, the Grassmarket, Old Town, the Royal Mile, and the Scott Monument, are all about a five-minute drive, a 15-minute bus ride, or a 20-minute walk east of the hotel. The Premier Inn is a 15-minute drive east of Edinburgh Airport.

The five-floor Premier has 282 rooms, all with coffee/tea makers, desks, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels. Rooms have basic light-wood furnishings, white walls, colorful art, and violet-colored carpets and bed throws. Rooms are clean and well maintained, but closets could use more hangers. Bathrooms are generally spacious with shower/tub combos, although some could use a bit more counter space; hairdryers are available only on request. Street-facing rooms get some noise. Rooms have been undergoing renovation as of 2015.

The Premier Inn has a bar and a restaurant, and serves an ample breakfast buffet (for a charge) with numerous hot items, including eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, and such continental staples as crumpets, croissants, cereal, and fruit. Dinner is mostly casual fare, including burgers, curries, steaks, pizza, and pasta. The hotel also has a business center, meeting rooms, and parking (for a fee). Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
