Castle Rock Hostel is a typical Edinburgh hostel that's housed in a 19th-century building. The medieval vibes start from the minute you see the building from the street -- particularly with the Edinburgh Castle in the background. The Castle Rock Hostel is fun, colorful, and full of quirks. Along with the cheerful atmosphere, the building is well kept and includes several common areas. There's a groove lounge, book lounge, self-catering kitchen, and organized activity evenings, ensuring that guests have plenty of time to mingle with each other. Most of those staying here are young budget travelers attracted by the convenient location and cheap rates, but keep in mind that all guests need to be over 18 years of age.

Rooms
Private rooms and dorms with bunk beds, lockers, reading lamps, and shared bathrooms
Each of the rooms in Castle Rock Hostel is named after a movie, with each bed in the room given a name of a character from the movie -- yet another fun quirk of the hostel. Some names include "Lord of the Rings," "Sherlock Holmes," "Avengers," and "Bonnie and Clyde." Each room is suitably designed according to its movie name -- all fun, brightly colored, and particular to detail, though quite basic in features. They do - in fact -- look like college dorm rooms (albeit clean ones). The dorms hold either four, 10, or 14 bunks, all of which are co-ed. There are also more private Double, Triple, and Quad Rooms, though these lack en-suite bathrooms, TVs, or any amenities beyond a sink. Dorms don't have air-conditioning or fans, but do have lockers, reading lamps, and bed linens, and ear plugs are provided for free. Towels are available at an additional fee. The communal bathrooms are well-kept and include stall showers.
